  1. beal joker is on sale on the Black Diamond clearance page
  2. Scarpa and Meindl make old-skool boots. The slosest place for Meindl is in Vancouver. It's calle AJ Brooks. I think they have a website. The only place I've ever seen the Scarpa's is on the BD website. Of the two, the Meindl boots are much sturdier.
  3. Terry Bradshaw, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Steelers flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Terry." said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here." Bradshaw felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3 story mansion with a blue and white sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flag pole with an enormous SEAHAWKS flag, and in every window a blue Towel. Bradshaw looked at God and said, "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro quarterback, I hold many NFL records, and I even went to the Hall of Fame." God said, "So what's your point Bradshaw?" "Well, why does Matt Hasselbeck get a better house than me?" God chuckled, and said, "Terry, that's not Matt's house, it's mine."
  4. Have you heard of the Tipton Quartet? Its a local (Seattle) sax quartet. One of the members is the saxophonist from The Living Daylights. Pretty cool shit.

    SELL OUTS

You act as if it were a humanitarian cause. China is the biggest market in the world for everything. Yay! The Chinese public has more access to the internet! What you aren't saying is "Yay! the Chinese government has more control!" This isn't freedom, it's poisoning the candy. FYI - Yahoo is already in China. Ask.com announced plans to get there last year.

    SELL OUTS

The founders of google held 3 billion in stock at the IPO. Now the stock price has quadrupled. How much $$$ is enough?
  8. This TR is "da shit" I reread it every time it gets bumped. Thanks for bumping it.
  9. Had to order them and we were climbing the next day. With a few minor improvements, I think the piece we made would work better than the horn, especially if you take it off/put it on often for alpine climbs. FYI - I put horns on my Tech Wings and they are a PIA to put on.
  10. My roomate and I made something similar for his Rambos a few weeks back. We used a piece of aluminum, a few pieces of polyethylene from a cutting board, and some machine screws. They are pretty ugly right now, but they aren't done yet. I will get some pics up.

    SELL OUTS

This is after Google stood up to the government and proclaimed that one of it's core values is to "not be evil". Suddenly, they are willing to reroute Chinese internet users to geovernment websites when they search for particular topics. The first thing to do when oppressing a population is to control information. There is no doubt that Google is helping the Chinese government with this. So much for "Don't be evil".

    CHOPS!

Did someone say "Mullet"? My bad, you said "Chops".
  13. My simple advice is to suck up the extra weight andd get a 10mm dry rope. It does weigh a bit more than a 9mm, but it will wear much longer. What you describe will likely put heavy wear on your rope, especially when toproping where everyone will toss it in the dirt, and glacier travel where it WILL get stepped on. If you want twin ropes, then get a set. It's damn expensive when compared to a bargain rope, but you get what you pay for. Also make sure you know how to use a twin setup before heading out. On a side note, I have not been happy with Beal ropes. The sheath wears too quickly. My cheap Edelweiss has aged much better. I've also been very happy with Sterling.
  14. If you have such a low opinion of them, why did you ever purchase the product in the first place?
  15. This story is obviously a fake. A snowboarder wouldn't apologize.
  16. The machines, the tech wings, and the Ta-a-koons are all the "same" tool. The relative angle/location of the handle to the pick is the same. I have some Tech Wings with the trigger and horn. With insulated gloves, the horn would get in the way. I normally use atlas work gloves or BD Drytool gloves with the tools and have had no problem. If you want a bigger hammer, you can buy the normal hammer from any tool Rambo and newer. It will fit. The Mixte picks are beefier towards the handle. The width at the pick is about the same. The Mixte pick is much taller at the point. It could be a (small) concern if you are DT on really small stuff.
  17. Zippers are only put on the side of packs to blow out and add weight. Top loaders aren't that bad once you learn to pack/organize them.
  18. Will ther be sauerkraut wrestling?
  19. They were always bolted on. The end of the bolts are peened over.
  20. Sounds a lot like Olestra. CLICK ME!!!!

    climbing girls

I think the best choic eis a GF who understands and is willing to hit the crag from time to time. I dated a girl who lived in B-ham. It was great to crash at her place after climbing in the North Cascades. As a bonus, she liked to boulder at Clayton. Nothing like a summer day on a beach climbing with the GF. <memories>

    climbing girls

I've tried the "teach them to climb" trick. It's not much fun. Sometimes you have to tell a new climber to quit whining and just f_cking go. It's not a good idea to do that to a girl you are dating.
