  1. It's all about periodization. For example, don't train hangboard or campusing for more than four or five weeks at a time and never together. I seemed to get injured a lot more (and was a lot weaker) before I had an actual training program. It seems to me that people that just boulder or climb routes in the gym at their maximum all the time tend to get injured a lot. Also, incorporate crossfit into your training program because it's awesome.
  2. Sounds like with a no zip entry you would need to be able to use a pee bottle, as getting up in the middle of the night would be problematic to say the least. Therefore it would maybe need to have a little more girth to facilitate one person rolling over and not peeing all over their partner? Something to think about...
  3. I'm in Lake Louise right now. It dumped a whole bunch yesterday and last night. The skiing was sweet today, but I concur about the avy conditions. Wouldn't want to be on anything exposed right now. Haffner is in nicely.
  4. Yikes, high of +10 on Saturday in Jasper.
  5. Bertrand Russel must really suck at spelling.
  6. I'm in Jasper right now, it's fucking cold out.
  7. Nope, talked to Marcus on the way back down, he's working. John is elsewhere...
  8. Pete and I just got back from approaching Colonial. Hiked in yesterday. The snow was unconsolidated low and conditions were deteriorating the higher we got. I hate to think what conditions on the face are like. We bivyed in the basin and then headed out this morning. Another party (with Oregon plates) came in sometime in the middle of the night and when we left the basin at 9:00 this morning they had a loooong ways to go to get to the start of the climbing. Edited to add the story where we almost died: So we were driving down I-5 North of Seattle, just cruising along. All of a sudden out of nowhere this hatchback locks up its breaks and come skidding sideways into our lane. I shit you not the thing was doing 70mph going down the highway, sideways right in front of us. It was one of the more fucked up things I've ever seen. Pete had a brilliant piece of driving there. We didn't even leave our lane. How it didn't roll over I have no idea. How we managed not to hit it I have no idea. So the car came to a stop in the left hand lane, without getting hit and without hitting the median barrier. It was pure luck.
  9. What a crap looking route.
  10. Also, check out the alibi glove for 22 bucks, can't beat that...I think they only have it in size small now though. here

    Why?

Oh yes, I am well aware of that fact as I spend my days substitute teaching in classrooms throughout East Multnomah county.

    Why?

If they started drug testing teachers the education system would fall apart, seriously. I don't understand how conservatives can reconcile their supposed love of personal freedom with their want to impose harsh sentences on things like smoking pot that have no impact whatsoever on people other than the user. It's fucking ricockulous. Same with abortion, and gay marriage. Cognitive dissonance much? Or what Ivan said, apparently.
  13. I graduated from the same high school as David Hasselhoff.
  14. Pete's famous. Yeah Pete!
  15. Check your PM's...
  16. To be totally accurate it was a leopard skin man thong, but I forgot it when I was packing. I really had images of my glorious ascent that went like this: I'm wearing only my man thong, boots and helmet. As I ascend higher on the route I start to get pumped. I take a giant crowd pleasing whipper. As the rope starts to catch me it shockloads my man thong, causing catastrophic failure. The crowd gasps in horror. Children scream, women faint, fade to black.
  17. My dog was down there climbing. She's pretty sick.
  18. Hahahaha, that's good too...
  19. Thanks for the props John, my new motto is "I didn't place last".
  20. Thanks for the info CC... I skied one day a few weeks ago for the first time in three seasons and had a total blast, so I think it'll be a good thing.
  21. So I'm new to the AT skiing thing. My boots will be somewhere in the US11.5-12 size. Does that mean I should go for the XL fritchi freerides or the standard size?
  22. Nice! Good times, good times. Here's a pic of John drytoolin' at skylight:
  23. Still sore over a disagreement about pullups sexual chocolate? What's wrong with you? And Raindawg, way to remain the anonymous internet guy. I'm out.
  24. Okay "Raindawg", I'm the anonymous guy? My name is Bill Amos, I live right off of woodward and se 34th in Portland. I'll PM you my phone number if you want. Who are you? Who is "pope" for that matter? I'm still really not sure how bat hooks and ice climbing are similar, as one hole permanently alters the rock forever and the other creates a hole in frozen water that's going to fall down in a few months anyway. The mind boggles. Maybe calling you retarded was a bit harsh, but then again maybe not considering your response.
