Mtngrrl, what "compromise" would you suggest for a 23-pitch route put up illegally with a power drill in a Wilderness?
-
This is wholly incorrect. NPs can (and do) have Wilderness in them. Also DNR land can have this designation. I'm *pretty* sure NRAs can too, though that's an unlikely place to have Wilderness.
-
Yeah, the Forest Circus has a lot of resources for chopping big long routes that were illgally bolted in Wilderness.
-
Okay, then can someone show me when and where the Forest Service is currently subsidizing logging or timber companies? Please use specifics. Maybe I'm not mad about something I should be mad about with this Fee Demo dealo.

WTA's position on the parking pass is not posted on their site, but I can tell you that they support it. That money helps with TM, and WTA does TM for the FS. Let me ask you this: You have to pay for sno-park for various winter recreation you have to pay for hunting tags to kill Bambi you have to pay for a fishing license even if you catch and release Should all of these other recreation user fees be abolished, or are hikers and climbers somehow special? If there were to be no user fee, would you also be okay with the elimination of all amenities, including privies, both backcountry and trailhead, no more road maintenance, no more trail maintenance, and no more ranger offices?

I have 7, and this was the info I needed. Thanks. Ray, I don't know what your problem is, but you can kindly GFY with your negative crap. Have a nice day.

Well, thanks at least for posting that. I get a little tired of hearing people complain about how the FS is subsidizing the timber industry when there is almost zero cutting going on in the NFs of the PNW at present. Personally, I use almost all of those categories, so I guess it's not such an affront to me to pay 30 bucks for a permit. I certainly get my money's worth.

I am printing some pictures, and one of them is too washed out. I'd like to intensify the colors (specifically the yellows) in P-shop. Can someone tell me how to do it? I can barely do anything in P-shop, because I am a stupid woman.
-
So having to pay a user fee to get the privies cleaned is the same as living in Nazi Germany? Please.
-
What's the big deal? It's thirty bucks a year that goes toward trail and road maintenance, and to keep up the privies. Plus, if you don't want to pay, you can do volunteer work instead.

Ketch, please keep us posted. I got a good buddy out there on that there race. TIA.

Thanks for posting that.

Seems like a dumb place to go 200. I got up to 118 on my bike one time, and then the idea of a bunny running out in front of me got me to slow down before I got to terminal velocity. Far as 200 goes, I haven't done it, but one of my good friends has been a Bonneville racer for maybe 20 years. I had the good fortune of going with him in 1996 to drive the chase truck and do split times and whatnot at the summer meet at B'ville. He didn't get in the 200 Club on that trip, but got some record or another at about 196. I asked him what it was like (I had a broken leg at the time, so taking the bike out on a run myself was not an option) and he said it just took a long time to stop, going that fast. I had approximately the same experience going 118 the summer before, seems that's the big deal with going fast. I'd like to know what that doof did to his bike to get it to go over 200. One could assume there was turbo/nitrous involved, I don't know that even with the modern hardware you can get a bike going that fast just with blueprinting and porting. EDIT: I just saw the post above mine, which basically covers it.

Stinky macro on the Stylus, though, if you are into that sort of thing.

I just heard a rumor that mags are requiring 5mps now. I looked at some submission guidelines and am not seeing it, but if anyone has heard of specific pubs that require that, please speak up. I don't want to spend an extra c on an extra MP unless it is necessary for that purpose.

You can find UT behind the bar at the Twisp Brewery. I just had him pour me a beer a few weeks ago. He had a big smile on his face, Twisp seems to be treating him well.- 60 replies

I've looked at about a million pictures of this variety, and it is not the one.

North Cascades, west side. There's a lot out right now. My omelet this morning had some lovely chanterelles in it. I have about 15 of these, and they all have a lighter brown dot on the top. It's not prominent, like a nipple, but it's certainly a lighter brown dot. The coloring on the outside of the cap goes from a dark tan color at top to a creamy white, and the gills can be seen from the ouside, as the caps are somewhat transparent. EDIT: the gills are white. No, you don't need to point out about the liver damage. I'm still not 100% sure what the shrooms are.

I did a little looking around on a mushroom website and there are a lot of psilocybes there and I don't know which ones grow here, so I haven't been able to wade thru them all.

Poll: Would you rat on a Wilderness Power Driller?
marylou replied to Lambone's topic in Access Issues
If the law were changed to allow for bolting with a power drill in Wilderness, one could also expect to see chainsaws, wheelbarrows, mountain bikes, and snowmobiles in the Wilderness areas. And that's just the beginning of it. -
I bought a Canon s40 when they came out. Good camera if you need fully manual....but my s40 is being replaced with an s410 Elph. The s410 performs very well against larger cameras in terms of lens quality, and has a way better macro than most of the rest of the real smallies.
