Given that the address to respond to is in England, and the name of the program is that of an old 60's era UK spy show on the tele, it might make more sense.

You only need worry if the NPS starts saying things like "We need more H1B visas because we can't get enough qualified park rangers here in the US"

Since I can almost always find an item a lot cheaper elsewhere than at REI (I'm sure I save more money than I get back in their 'refund'), and since REI seems to have abandoned it's goal to use the buying power of a cooperative to get the best prices for it's members, I can only guess that the only redeeming quality it still has is it's no-ask return policy. Since I'm not the kind of dirt-bag clim..um..person who will buy something, abuse the crap out of it for its intended purpose, and then take it back a year or two later demanding a refund, REI doesn't usually command my business unless I need it sooner than I can get it elsewhere.

Here's to living long enough to be a problem to your children.

WfGspqkFN9s Michael Hedges. All the YouTube sound quality sucks to show off his ability. Saw him in Boston in, oh, maybe 1990. Amazing acoustic performance. Had the poor bastards from the Berklee College of Music realizing they had just been presented with the height of the bar and that they were unworthy. Also saw SRV back in like 1988 or 1989 at a Paramount Theater sized place (can't remember the name). I was stuck on Al Dimeola back in his Return to Forever days and even saw them live in Chicago but haven't listened to that jizz for a long long time.

Heck, even I'd show up for that (yes, yes, I know. Be still, your beating heart).

"Golly gee, if only we had known something like this could happen when we were clamoring to deregulate the financial services industry!" Wash hands, a few bad apples, business as usual. BTW, I'm under no illusion that what is playing out here is any serious collapse (in the short term), if for no other reason than that the State has proven so willing and adept at managing increasingly frequent, if less destructive, capitalist crises and bailing out individual firms when the "free-market" inevitably shits the bed. When did this "de-regulation" that you speak of occur? Clinton probably kicked this off through his initative to increase home ownership in 1994. Instead of trying to make housing cheaper, however, he decided to loosen the rules on mortgages. Making homeownership more attainable became a goal early in the administration. In late 1994, President Clinton set as a national goal to raise the homeownership rate to 67.5 percent by the end of 2000. HUD used its oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to encourage those entities to reach out to low-income borrowers and areas underserved by the private market. Finally, a revitalized Federal Housing Administration (FHA) has substantially increased lending to African Americans, Hispanics, and other traditionally underserved groups and, in doing so, has worked to increase homeownership opportunities of these segments. If this was a 'known problem', why do you suppose it never got 'fixed'?

tells you how important housing is to our economy now that we've offshored all the other manufacturing jobs.

Don't you have a Noam Chomsky cult meeting to go to? I see you're working on there being a 'classless' society....

The Yucatan Peninsuala is great, and I highly recommend it, but just remember hurricane season (Jun-Nov).

I had a best friend in high school who used to race in the biathlon when AK competed in the Arctic Winter Games. My observation, and it's only that, is that the people who tended to gravitate to shooting on the match rifle team (and thus those who developed some shooting skills) weren't the sorts to be drawn toward a seriously athletic pursuit like cross-country skiing (oddly enough, my friend often won medals at that age simply because he could outshoot everyone even though he couldn't ski worth shit). Multiply this by the fact that I don't think that there are that many high schools with match shooting as an intramural sport as well as a cross-country ski program and there you have it. We simply don't have strong program in this country to develop the athletes unless they choose to do it themselves.

I've heard that about the old nuts - that you defintely break out the nut tool a lot more.

I think I'm more concerned about people's impressions of their safety but intrigued by the supposed advantages of their shape. I admit I haven't had one in hand yet, just read about them. I think their weight is no big deal. If I wanted to save weight, I'd lose five pounds of fat. ;-)

Anyone use these? Compare/contrast with, say, BD nuts?

Can we take back some of Boeing's tax cuts now?
