  1. I don't fit in a dancer anyway (at least the one that my college outing club had).

    new ipod

this is cheaper and much more portable...
  3. I just find it amazing that it happened four times in a row! You'd think the person would have learned how not to die after he had already killed himself three times...

  6. It's in Scotia, NY? I should have gone there while I was in school! Then I too could have sat at the counter and enjoyed watching Dick! Damn me for not taking advantage of my Dick watching while I had the chance!
  7. let's not forget that Bush was trying to sneak in the ANWF drilling while he preoccupied us with a war!

  9. I think getting home is more dangerous... not only are you tired from the climb, but you also prolly have a few in you
  10. The 55 mph stretch of I-84 between I-205 and troutdale in Portland. I see people pulled over there all the time. I once saw a speed trap consisting of 1 motorcycle cop and at least 6 or 7 cop cars (there were 3-4 cars pulled over, a few waiting, and a few pulling around.) Outside of Portland I've never had a problem though.
  11. I agree totally with JoshK. While they both have their plusses and minuses, I have yet to find a situation where I'd rather have cheap windpants instead of my schoellers. I have two pairs of stretch-woven pants, a pair of black stretch-wovens (I'm not sure if it's actually schoeller or not) from Moonstone a few years back, and a beige schoeller dynamic pair that REI makes. The black are perfect for winter persuits where I use them as a single layer. I'll be using the beige this summer on my glacier climbs, a step-up from the mountie/mazama uniform of shorts over polypro. I used the beige last weekend down in the Three Sisters Wilderness in some heavy sun on snow, and was perfectly comfortable in them. (I was comfortable in my t-shirt rather than long-sleeve polypro to give an indication of how warm it felt.)
  12. Meeting at timberline at 5:00 am <grumble grumble> Oh well, it's worth it for climbing We're doing the South Side, and taking a bunch of newbies up, so we'll prolly be going pretty slow. (This just means I load my pack up with a bunch of water and write it off as strength training.)
  13. What kind you got? I've got an RPM back in MA, and I'd like something more aggresive (preferably with chines) Ideally I'd like a WS Forplay, but I don't feel like dropping the $300-$400 on a used one right now.
  14. I'm not sure what I'm doing Saturday, but I'll be trudging up Hood on Sunday...
  15. I went Wed and Thurs. Yeah, they could have had fewer sappy videos. I thought the Denali documentary was pretty damn funny though. Thursday had a sweet kayaking video, made me want to ship my boat out here from MA. Hood River has the festival tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday...

Boomers are (supposedly) from 1945-1964... when is Gen-X? Right after that? For how long? And what about those who were born in the Carter years? I still haven't figured out if I'm Gen-X, Gen-Y, or just Generic...
  17. I only got 12 out of the deal!
  18. now THAT'S a good title!
  19. I seem to remember someone asking for the mounties to announce when they're going to be where, and now that they do, all people can do is complain! arg! If you don't like it, don't go there. You have no right to tell the Mounties that they can't go someplace, and they're even telling you where and when they're going to be. I haven't climbed at these places, but it sounds like they're the kind of crags that most competent climbers wouldn't be going to anyway. It's one weekend, get over it.
  20. sorry, still no donkeypuncher
  21. I thought that was Nissan...
  22. I just ask that people pay more attention to what the hell they're doing. Doing 50 in the left lane, swerving all over the place, running down pedestrians, cutting off bikes, etc. doesn't need to happen. It's not that I can't tolerate other people, I just feel people should be more attentive.
  23. I fail to see how *anything* on this board could justify the threatening of life or limb. It seems some people took it way to seriously if they have to resort to childish threats.
  24. a) size difference- blazer and pickup trucks are not too far apart b) you're an idiot
  25. I know my worst driving was before I turned 18. I'm not sure if it was because I then had two years of driving experience under my belt (and I'd already gotten the stupid things out of my system,) or if I had actually matured somewhat, but I do remember how bad I was in my first two years. I'd like to see the driving age raised, because quite simply, the idea of 16 year olds driving scares me. People do some really stupid stuff between 16 and 18. I'm not saying that people are mature at 18, just a lot moreso than at 16.
