  1. Arrogant Bastard is damn good. It's 7.2%. They make a stronger version called "Double Bastard" which is up at 10%. That stuff will knock you on your ass. You gotta love the motto though: "Fizzy Yellow Beer is for Wussies".

  3. Al is definately cheaper than Ti, but what's the latest on the correlation between cooking with Aluminum and Alzheimers?
  4. Now if that doesn't make you wince, I don't know what will!

Allison, I just remembered about a program called "Lost and Found". I had a massive crash a few years ago: File Allocation Tables (FAT) got all kinds of screwed up. I used this program to retrieve some data that would have been lost. I thought I was so lucky that I had backed up my system less than a week earlier, but this program would have gotten it back. It ignores the FAT (what you get rid of when you a quick format), and just looks at the files on the disk directly. Some formats will go through and completely remove all the data, and if this happened then you're unfortunately SOL. Anything that's been written over since you formatted the computer (by installing your OS, programs, adding files, etc.) will be gone, but there's no way to tell what has or hasn't been written over. You'll need access to another computer with enough space on their hard drive to get everything that you need off of yours. If you need any help, PM me.
  6. I feel like I'd get totally trashed in a hole in something shorter than I am. I'd like to get a WS Forplay and learn how to toss ends in that.

I'd get a mac if I had enough disposable income... iPod + iTunes = another good thing about macs and ipods: one of my friends actually managed to screw up his powerbook (he knew he was screwing around with it and acknowledged that it was his own fault), and somehow managed to boot up off his iPod to restore his system (don't ask me how, but he did it). That's just plain sweet.
  8. at this point it almost is! there are a lot of boats out there now that aren't much over 6' long! (and think some that may even be under). Having a boat that's shorter than a paddle just doesn't sit right with me...
  9. I also realize that you're just spraying because erik has more posts than you...
  10. I'm just trying to give a heads up because this is the time of year that people will start asking about conditions. We were in a white out with 20 foot visibility on Sunday, so that's why I said I'd give more info after tomorrow (hopefully have better visibility and more info.)
  11. Just a heads up: the bergschrund is open now, not very wide, but prolly not jumpable anymore. The snow bridge we crossed on Sunday felt really unstable (snow was really soft), and we decided not to bring all our newbies across. I'll have more info from when I'm up there again tomorrow.

I keep my OS and programs on a separate drive. if the shit hits the fan, I can just format that drive and I keep all my other data. I also try to backup my documents, email, and such once a month (although it sometimes winds up being more like 6 months ) These are all kept on separate drives anyway. I can't backup my mp3's, there's just too damn many of them.
  13. REI Powershield gloves for $44? I have a pair and I feel they get wet too easily. I'm going to try treating the leather and putting a DWR on the stretch woven and see if that helps. Otherwise, they're great gloves.
  14. It was just my knee caps that wouldn't fit past the kneebraces/bulkhead. I've actually fit into a XXX (with much pain) it was in a pool and only for a few minutes, but I could toss the ends around in that thing like they weren't there
  15. I'm 6'2", but I've got long legs and my kneecaps stick out more than most peoples. I couldn't get them past the kneebraces. I don't know if it was just the dancer I was trying, or if it was all of them, but I couldn't get into the thing no matter how much I tried (short of removing my kneecaps.) Other tall people in the club could get into it, it was just me who couldn't.
  16. I agree with the schoeller comments, and I use a Kavu Chillba for hiking (it *is* an umbrella for your head ) I'll be trying out some light beige schoeller pants this summer for glacier climbing, but I'm worried that they might still be a little too warm. I may have to revert back to white patagucci silkweight for those hot days on the snow.
  17. does it matter? both phrases are right!
  18. I'm just curious: How many of Lambone's critics have ever actually navigated a crevassed glacier in a whiteout? What about when it was with people who may not have as much experience as you? (I'm not trying to take sides, I'm just trying to make a point.)
  19. I don't fit in a dancer anyway (at least the one that my college outing club had).

  21. I just find it amazing that it happened four times in a row! You'd think the person would have learned how not to die after he had already killed himself three times...

  24. It's in Scotia, NY? I should have gone there while I was in school! Then I too could have sat at the counter and enjoyed watching Dick! Damn me for not taking advantage of my Dick watching while I had the chance!
  25. let's not forget that Bush was trying to sneak in the ANWF drilling while he preoccupied us with a war!
