  1. Took the kids bike riding yesterday and found 2060 Clear Creek road still snowed in at about a mile in. Further up the Mtn Loop- FS49 has had a significant slump and damage 1/4 mi before N Fork Sauk Falls. Mtn Loop still snowed in after Bedal bridge. Oh well- it was still good to see the woods after a week of being MH
  2. Going up on Sunday for a look at Clear Creek 2060 Road and Mountain Loop towards Bedal- anyone been up there recently? Conditions update other than 700 feet of snow on the road? Thanks, M. Hanna
  3. "Yes it should and it should be called Hanman's Chloroform Playhouse! " Ok by me
  4. Thank You Dan! I'll pass it along
  5. Hey all- Anyone here able to recommend a Seattle/northend foot dr specializing in distance running injury prevention and orthotics? The wife is crazy that way, finishing her first marathon last week... MH
  6. I have been in contact with FixeUSA re this about a year ago, they apparently accidentally powdercoated their non-stainless version of what we usually see around here. The rep seemed willing to exchange these on a 1 for 1 basis if returned to them. I have replaced a couple sets on Blueberry Hill since. They appear to corrode quickly when the powdercoat wears through, as they do not have any galvanized coating. Mark Hanna
  7. Ok Ok Ok I aint skeerdt of a bit of liquid sunshine. Going up Fri evening despite my inner skeertidness. MH

  10. Thanks for a great day out and all the work on a stellar line! I'm up for the "Festival of Turpitude (Inherent baseness or vileness of principle, words, or actions; depravity)" or something akin... DTown = :[] skull+12 pak= robot deth fer sher MH
  11. Thanks guys- your efforts are greatly appreciated. I hope to replace some rusty wedges and chain on Online prior to the end of the summer. MH
  12. I would like to say that only once did I get some harrassing by one overly vocal fellow. Many folks told me on the way out on several occasions that they enjoyed watching our progress through the day. That being said, weekdays are the best up there. I do think the Tower is a better route all things considered. MH
  13. Turn_One and myself climbed Centerstage on Sunday as well- Hi Mike and TeleRoss Fortunately, I happen to love slab climbing, so the upper pitches of this outing were very much fun and quite recommended if you are into that sort of thing. Great to see the effort of doing both Roan and Salish in a day . Did you rap CS or walk off? MH
  14. I concur Sir Matt- Quite fun it is Have fun up there- I wish I were able to attend this year's "Festival of Civility", but alas... MH

  16. Thanks for the info goat and gene- While I usually enjoy this kind of thing, chunking crap on one's partner is probably not the greatest idea- skull MH
  17. Firstly, I think it's important to state that I have never drunk the chloroform, or invited mere acquaintances to perform unmentionable acts upon the kin of my folk or others. Born and bred in the Spokaloo of Washinton, I must maintain the sanctitty of that which shall not be spokane. It cannot be overstated however; that in the course of our trip to the sandy sun stone of the Vegas, a whirlwind of folklore and debauchery emanated from the Shappster's mouth organ. Normally, I would consider this unlikely form of communication a simple blight on my otherwise pure self. This time however, it was clear that Shappy had a story to tell... However- the hot creek in BumFuK NV was great, Inti Watana was cold and snowy, VOF has great camping and hand cracks in places, and I'm certainly going back as soon as possible, given the infinite choices for dinner buffet available at the local casino. Praise the lord and amen. Reverend Hanman
  18. Is it worthy? Thinking of heading up there this w/e for some obscurity. Pure Folly? Pure Joy? Somewhere in the betwixt? MH
  19. Heres a link for the ss bolts on Westward Ho, Dark Rythm, Rainman, Total Soul etc http://www.powers.com/pdfs/mechanical/07424.pdf At this point, I think hammering the studs back into the hole may potentially produce a stud that spins. As long as the minimum embedment is intact, just a lite snug down with a 9/16" wrench is probably a good idea. Practice with a torque wrench before doing this- or the bolt can be overtorqued and damaged. Or- send me a PM of loose nuts/anchor damage and I'll put it on the to do list- I get up there many times throughout the year. M. Hanna
  20. In the works fer sher. Ya'll have a good w/e -I'm going to Squire Creek Pass to begin galvanic leachate studies of the local batholith. MH
  21. Anyone been up there recently? Wondering about snow levels for taking my kids-a-camping this w/e. I know there is a considerable remnant below the North Butt of 3:00, how about higher on the trail? MH
  22. Tvash- those bolts in Westward Ho are not epoxy anchors, they are 3/8" Powers ss wedge anchors, as is the modern typical bolt used in DTown. Please do not use locktite on the threads. If freeze thaw is the mechanism for the nuts loosening, locking the nut on will result in a spinner come next season (without the ability to retighten or maintain the hanger if it gets damaged by rockfall). Here is a pretty good bolt thread over on Supertaco http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.html?topic_id=374939 I have observed the need for annual retightening on many of the DTown routes we have used wedge anchors on. During install, most of these were overdrilled to allow sinking the stud should replacement become necessary. The frozen pocket/ice wedging scenario may explain this phenomenon. M. Hanna
  23. Good to see people getting some fine slabbage in Clear Creek - It sounds like all the anchors were in place on WH? We usually lose a few during winter due to the bowling alley effect that provides for surface texture on that one. M. Hanna
  24. Trip: Darrington Three O'clock Rock - Magic Bus Date: 5/11/2007 Trip Report: Just a heads up for those who may be interested- Protection bolts on P1 of Magic Bus have been upgraded to 3/8" hardware, and chains replaced tat at belay. I hope in the next few weeks to do the same to P2. It was great to be out there yesterday! MH
  25. Is that in Renton?
