  1. What's the difference between Mick Jagger and a Scottish Shepherd? Mick says, "Hey you, get off of my cloud!" The Scot says, "Hey McCloud, get off of my ewe!"
  2. That's one heck of a booty. Too bad the pink thing got in the way.
  3. Case 1: Do nothing. Keep the cam. Case 2: Give it up and expect a beer in return Case 3: Keep it Robin Hood would keep the cam. Jesus would give it back but the grateful recipient would have to listen to a sermon.
  4. I believe that there are perhaps as many as two more short pitches after the 5.6 chimney. AlpinFox, correct me if I am wrong. I haven't actually done them. Somebody ought to come up with a name for it. It's like a big clam. The chimney is fun on lead, but less fun if you are following with a pack.
  5. I'm not absolutely certain of the route name, but it is a 5.8 double crack climb. It's a fine route, I would recommend to others. The anchor I found is like this: two bolts about 24 inches apart, each bolt has a welded cold shut with a length of chain about 8 inches long attached. The chains need to be at least doubled in length, otherwise they are worse than useless. We left some webbing and an aluminum rap ring on it. It would be great if someone would take care of this next time they visit. All it would take would be two 10" pieces of chain and a pair of quick links.
  6. I can do Deception Crack, 5.9 on Eightmile Rock and it is easy. Likewise Classic Crack, 5.8+ is very easy.
  7. You are in the same category as Dr. Flash.
  8. Professor, as a 5.13 climber, you can't tell the difference between 5.9 and 5.10. It's all the same to you. If you are a 5.9 climber as I am, it might be hard to tell the difference between 5.5 and 5.6, but I can tell the difference between 5.9 and 5.10.
  9. A lot of people are buying the new Montrail Splitter shoe and most I've talked to have been very happy with them. They are designed to be an all around shoe and are comfortable enough to wear all day, if sized right.
  10. You got it! It rained a little on Saturday afternoon, but it was beautiful on Sunday. Ran into Leland and Dave W. Climbed lots of great routes, including Jam Exam and Inca Roads.
  11. Maybe he'll start working on obscure 6,000 m peaks that have seen no or few ascents. The air is thick at 6,000 m compared to 8,000.
  12. Obviously fake owing to the absence of blood spatter.
  13. That takes cahones to do that without a crash pad.
  14. I certainly hope it was a fake report for the sake of midgetdom (or is it midgethood?).
  15. Lion Mutilates 42 Midgets
  16. Darrington: "Step on them there knobby thangs" Leavenworth: "Wait a minute, this here slab is sandyeeeeeeeee" Index: "Put your feet where the moss ain't" Vantage: "The holds are the ones with chalk on 'em".

    Boycott Newsweek

This thread is getting off track onto terrain that has already been covered, ad nauseum on this board. The questions are these: 1) was Newsweeks information correct or not, 2) regardless of whether it was correct or not, did they have a right and/or a duty to publish it. I think the information WAS correct and that all the backpedaling they have been doing is entirely because of severe government pressure. I believe that the media should bring out the truth. Let the government worry about the consequences. If the truth were always revealed, maybe the government wouldn't do things like start unjustified wars.
  18. I have a friend who is so afraid of heights she gets sweaty palms just driving over the Narrows Bridge.
  19. Too bad they aren't being made by the company that bought Walrus, MSR. The Rapeed is a superior tent. I have one that is 5 + years old and still going strong. Faster set up than any other tent.
  20. It doesn't matter what you skill level. I believe that if you write your TR from your own perspective and talk about what you learned, people at a similar level will get something out of it they can use. R & D Route is very well named. It's a great one for learning.
  21. I need to go climbing. That's what I need to do!
  22. Prove me wrong by posting a trip report when you get back. There is a great weather forecast for this weekend. Go for it.
  23. Nail polish is about as harsh a solvent as I can imagine. It would be my choice when hell freezes over and pigs fly.
  24. It's not a phobia if it is a rational fear. Good gear is the way to get over fear.
  25. Maybe I'm in a bad mood, but I get tired of lurkers always asking for conditions, but never posting conditions when they go out. That's why people write trip reports.
