    EXTREME

At least they have a bonafide reason to rappel, that is, to enter a cave. Up at Erie yesterday, I saw a bunch show up just to rap the cliff. That's what happens when you make the anchors too accessible. I wonder if anyone has ever actually had to wait to get on a climb while someone rappelled it for the hell of it? It hasn't happened to me, but if this "sport" keep growing, I imagine there will eventually be conflicts.
  3. Get your better half to do it, preferably with the car in park.

  5. Mods move this to Eastern Washington Forum, please.
  6. I've climbed it on a hot day and I have climbed it in the rain. In the rain it get's really slick but you don't get as thirsty as when it is hot and sunburn isn't as much of a problem.
  7. The two stood together on the summit on this day in 1953 and that is all that matters.
  8. Can I ask if it has any trad lines on it? Is it protectable with gear?
  9. I think it is fitting that the first helicopter to land on top of the world is named after a snafflehound.
  10. Nowadays, they refer you to private outfits (if they exist) if you just run out of gas. If you are a member, a la AAA for cars, they bring you gas for free. If not, you pay a hefty fee. The Coast Guard will rescue you only if you are in immediate peril.
  11. Just buy your pass at the store in George. The town needs your business and they know exactly what pass you want the minute you walk in. They know climbers when they see them. Regarding the "dustbowl", the dust isn't perhaps as bad as it once was thanks to all the grass that was planted recently.

    Wazzup?

Oly, I don't think either of us have been around to remember DonkeyPunch. I thought he'd been banned.
  13. If anyone has the beta for Hindquarters, I'll take it too. It's been a couple years since I tried it, but at the time that bulge seemed like an enigma.
  14. One of the guys had had brain surgery. The surgeon probably scooped out a fair amount of prefrontal lobe, I'd say.
  15. Stiff for it's grade, but still a lot easier than X-Factor (or especially Cutting Edge). They used to be 5.7 and 5.7+ respectively. I think Yoder has them both as 5.8's now.
  16. I seldom get out there, is all. Guys like Sobo are out there all the time. One of the nice things about the place is it is relatively free of unsightly webbing and I like it that way.
  17. I don't get it. I feel like Selkirk.
  18. Cheers, Paul.
  19. This is the Squirrell line of helicopters. I recall someone flew a Squirrell high up on Denali to rescue Dick Bass once.
  20. Sounds like he was rappelling just for the heck of it. I can't help regarding rappelling as a sport to be just plain bizarre. To me it is a necessary evil and the scariest part of climbing.
  21. Damn, Pax, you got me all excited to do that route again!
  22. Get outta here, Martin. Tangled Up in Blue is fairly rated. It is harder than Air Guitar, but AG is soft. TUIB will seem harder if you aren't good at stemming. If you are really good at it, and I know you are, it will seem quite easy.
  23. No, it would take a chastity belt.
