  1. Thank heavens the belayer had the foresight to use a Gri-Gri, which, in hindsight, was a really good idea! It is quite possible that the gear never would have pulled had she not been using a GriGri.
  2. Well, everyone in the Mountaineers does.
  3. Let me get one thing straight. While I found him to be annoying at times, I never felt he violated the terms of this site and had I been a moderator, I would not have banned him. He was probably the smartest guy ever to post on cc.com.
  4. Denton. There is a 50 foot hill there. They apply the lofty appellation "promontory" to it, I believe. You can see at least 5 miles from up there.
  5. It would be fun if the guy wouldn't keep harping on the same issue, ad nauseum.
  6. Bring back kitten. She hasn't posted in two years.
  7. Defeatist thinking! You start where you're at, and if you are so driven, well then drive! Do you have a goal in climbing? Let's here it, and WE'LL judge if it's possible! (No seriously, do you have a goal? Climbing can be super-fun, even with goals in mind!) My goal is to lead 5.11 trad. My immediate goal is to reach 5.10c by next summer.
  8. I should think of some Rodney Dangerfield joke. "Folks, I gotta tell 'ya, I'm so bad with women, I can't even get along with Bertha the LC/MS."
  9. Why is it that in the negative ion mode the LC/MS gives predominantly 2M-H for carboxylic acids, rather than M-H?
  10. Try it and find out.
  11. Don't we know it!
  12. Because it attacts less attention to be dumping stuff at a dumpster than along some random stretch of road. That's why.

That's putting a positive spin on it!

Your comment is the stupidest thing I've heard. It all depends on the career choices one has made. If you work in a highly technical field, you have a choice: move frequently, or commute. If you work as a cashier, sure you can always find a job close to where you live.
  16. At least when it comes to Jordanians... ...Yeah, right!
  17. Suck or Stuck? Spelling error, or Freudian slip?

Of course, we don't hate you. We are just jealous. Converse to the original question, I wonder how many people stay on at sucky jobs, or live in too-expensive or bad neighborhoods in order to avoid bad commutes?
  19. Here's a Canadian having a bad hair day:
  20. oh, that's a good one.

Scott, did anyone mention we all hate you?
  23. "This must be the 'obvious descent gully' Fred was talking about".
  24. I believe the correct spelling of her name is Hsieh
  25. Preplaced, of course. That would be a pinkpoint, then.
