  1. I never realize there were so many ways to go astray. I guess since I'm condemned anyway, I better have as much fun as possible before I kick the bucket.
  2. You tellin' me I'm not the center of the universe!?!
  3. Cost per passenger is less for light rail because the capacity is much greater.
  4. I stand corrected.
  5. From what I've read, Bush had enough people telling him about possible chemical and biological weapons that one could give him the benefit of the doubt and say no lie there. But, those types of WMDs couldn't by themselves tip the balance in favor of war. For that, nukes were needed. There was even less certainty about Saddam's nuclear activities. Bush needed one shred of evidence to convince the public, because the aluminum tubes, by themselves weren't pursuasive. Hence, the manufactured document about the Yellow Cake uranium. There is your lie. The lashing out at Wilson was further evidence. That was the fatal mistake. The problem with Bush's style of take-no-prisoners politics is that when you play that way, people just are not predisposed to give you the benefit of the doubt when you screw up.
  6. Let's hope so, but make no mistake, lightrail is many times more expensive per mile than a monorail and even more disruptive during construction.
  7. Anthrax wouldn't count as a pandemic because it doesn't spread easily from person to person. Another good example is SARS.
  8. Certainly, as an ice climber, you'd rather believe in La Nina. Time will tell, won't it?
  9. From what I've heard we won't be getting La Nina. It will be neutral.
  10. The two systems were complementary. They served different purposes. West Seattle is screwed now. Light rail may get to West Seattle one day, but it will be at least 20 years before it does.
  11. Good luck banning cell phones at Starbucks!
  12. I am so glad that I don't live in Seattle. The people of Seattle only get what they deserve. The monorail would have been a tremendous improvement in trasportation. Now they have nothing to show for the $300 million they have spent. What a waste!
  13. Is this quote from the same Frank?
  14. I broke down and bought a gym membership. Now I must use it or it's a waste of money.
  15. It should be pointed out that the measure allows exemptions from the 25 foot rule for establishments that can prove that smoke from designated smoking areas will not be carried into the interior areas.
  16. Of course we remember you. That's a great story. Heal up fast, man. Wait until B/D get's a hold of this story. They'll be all over it.
  17. "They" being Jim Yoder. But it didn't happen to all routes. The older ones are more likely to be accurate.
  18. Hey CBS, the FA (Robins) rated this route 5.9. source=>Bill's virtual vantage guide I happen to agree. 5.9, not 5.10a.
  19. Glad you guys had a good time. I decided to go work out, instead.
  20. Jens, that would make way too much sense, wouldn't it? We are talking about the State of Washington here.
  21. That sounds like the best bet.
  22. Of course all that is true. The reason all this shit is going down is just a symptom of a larger problem. The problem is short-sightedness. The Bushies don't have the ability to see beyond the most immediate future. They just don't worry about future consequences. What do you expect of people who got rich via the quick deal, buying and selling companies and baseball teams for the fast buck?
  23. That was because I was out climbing. Where were you?
  24. What are you? The beta police?
  25. An an historic moment it was too.
