  1. It looks like he's wearing a really large sombrero in that photo.
  2. In response to Poster: Greg_W Shuksan
  3. You mean segregation?
  4. Look at the boe-alps on their way up. Glad we got there before them.
  5. Thats exactly what happens, but once wicked to wool, there's not really anywhere for it to go when in a boot, and wool may wick, but it doesn't really dry that fast while in a sweaty non-breathing boot. When wet, wool sort of works like a wetsuit, in that the water/sweat in it warms up. I like the liners cause they are light and you can bring extra without adding that much weight, so even if yer woolies are crusty you can throw on a new pair of liners and feel all fresh and clean. BTW, what's with boots claiming that they are "breathable", unless there's mesh it aint breathable, and if there is mesh it aint waterproof.
  6. Three cheers for curves. I like Shakira. I wonder if she would date a climber?
  7. Yeah, doesn't redneck rhetoric involve admonishing "foreigners" for various reasons such as taking local jobs? I'm not sure what it so redneck about them there rules.
  8. Skamania county
  9. MAC or PC?
  10. Summer road trips? I would much rather climb in 40 degree weather at Josh or Red rock canyon than 112 degree weather.
  11. When will you be there? I'm going to the big V January 30-feb 2.
  12. This problem is common, I can see how it's easy to cruise, and many do the same thing in the weight room, it's up to you to push your limits. The difference between cycling and running is that you can simulate multiple hours of physical exertion and it is extremely low impact, whereas running isn't. Of course this means that you have to make more time. cruising is fine, if you plan on riding for 4 hours or more. I prefer the bike just cause I can ride when I go anywhere and get a workout at the same time, and running too much makes my knees hurt. How about swimming for cardio? I seem to remember that getting the heartrate goin' pretty good.
  13. you know most of this was just us goofin' off right?
  14. Matt, I am familiar with OPEN, the next to golden city nameless and signless bar, some times I go there on the way home from other bars for a little nightcap. I was so amazed the first time I saw that place. Sorry Charlies is not quite like OPEN, though you hit Targies right on the head though. Sorry Charlies has a tiny bar area similar to the mecca but like the mecca it also has a dining room, which at night is an extension of the bar and can accomidate VERY large crowds. There is a piano player who is very old and know every song in the hundred of books in the back area, there is a mic and you can just tell him what to play and sing along. Let me tell you, there are some very interesting people that sing, which is alway a little annoying yet amusing all at the same time. That's just an FYI, I'm not advocating going there, as parking sux but its worth checking out some time if you have never been.
  15. I'm down with shultzys, I just got all wrapped up in the QA talk, since that's my old stomping grounds, but you have to admit, sorry charlies is pretty damn cool.
  16. I used to smoke madrona bark cause I thought it made me high. Turns out it was prolly just partial asphyxiation.
  17. Targies rox. Though food is a little scarce. What about Sorry Charlies? Lots of food in the area, Howard on piano. Lot's of booths and really stiff drinks. This place has about as much character as you can get in seattle.
  18. Run wind sprints on hills (Run up walk down). I was in the same place as you, running 3.5 to 4 miles on flat, and I realized that it really didn't get my cardio goin' all that much, so I decided to run wind sprints up 65th to greenwood/phinney and for the same duration I got a much better cardio workout. For endurance cardio and leg strength I just ride the fixed gear around town, which is sort of like one of those "spinning" classes that they offer at health clubs cause you can't stop pedaling and going down can be work than going up. For more detailed info swing by the library called barnes and noble and check out the mountaineers book "Climbing: Training for peak performance". It seems to have really well rounded climbing specific training and nutrition info, and is written in an easy to digest style. I have never used a heart rate monitor, though I see it's benifits, but I'm just not that techy. My theory, if I feel like i'm about to barf than I'm doin' just the right amount of work.
  19. Just curious, how does the solstice occur at an exact time? i'm no astonomer, so maybe I'm mixed up, but I thought the winter solstice was the just shortest day of the year. And where does the equinox fit into the picture?

  24. Are you honest when no one's looking? Can you summon honey from a telephone? They sat there with their hooks in the water and their moustaches caked with airplane glue. o come let us adore them California overboard when the sun sets on the ghetto all the broken stuff gets cold. Smith and Jones forever! Smith and Jones forever! Smith and Jones forever together forever and ever. Build a stage for Autumn's bitch. They walk the alleys in duct tape shoes. They see the things they need through the windows of a hatchback The alleys are the footnotes of the avenues. o come let us adore them California overboard holding up their trousers with extension cords. (chorus) I've got two tickets to a midnight execution. We'll hitchhike our way from Odessa to Houston and when they turn on the chair something's added to the air when they turn on the chair something's added to the air forever -Silver Jews
