Speaking of Cryral, the wine not the glass, I had a bottle on new years and IMHO i can't taste the price. Which brings me to my question, at what point do y'all think think the cost/taste relationship started getting out of balance due to the gucci factor. In other words, you can probably taste the difference between a $15 bottle and a $2 bottle (trader joes excluded) but what a about a $150 and a $50 dollar bottle, where is the cutoff between taste and price?

You are missing the point, which has been made a number of times in a number of different ways. A single half can take a fall, but as a precaution a second is added for all the mentioned reasons.The big ropes are overkill for the sake of safety; You seem to be missing everyone is telling you.

Just did the math, yer right. I should have done that first. How is the elasticity of a rope measured? Are ropes assigned a spring constant?

It seems like it could be bad if you clip half ropes together in the same piece when you clip them together its like having a big fat 14-16mm rope thus adding more shock to the gear. Is one of the advantages of the half rope that due to the small diameter it stretches more thus decreasing the amount of shock to the system?
