And thanks to you for so widely publicizing and bitching about this that you've finally got your parents attention and will get the rules you seem to so badly want. Like wfinley says above, I give you more of the credit for this than the bolter who was out of line to begin with. What Gene says goes for me. It's just easier to bitch online and get the authorities attention so that they do something rather than to actually do something yourself I guess. You squeezed extra loud several places and got attention. Hope you feel special now and all the climbers can thank you for the new bullshit they have to deal with. Because of you.

Since our resident oppressive wacknut, jb, is gone, you know it still needs to be said Peter. Here you go: REGRESSIVE SHILL!!!! You want us all to be eating catfood so that the rich can rule us all. PS, in keeping with the spirit of jb, I only read the first 10 words of your link and guessed the rest. BTW, I waited the usual 15 seconds for jb to respond, but he didn't. He may be hospitalized. Or something. Hope he's OK.

As if we need another tick borne disease (see Tylers Lyme thread). Not here yet, but like Lyme wasn't here and still isn't in most parts (THEY SAY, but as Tyler indicates...). As if any of us need another reason to hate ticks..... http://www.chicagotribune.com/health/sns-rt-us-parasite-bloodtre784473-20110905,0,5092174.story "Julie Steenhuysen Reuters 5:04 p.m. CDT, September 5, 2011 CHICAGO (Reuters) - A tick-borne infection known as Babesiosis, which can cause severe disease and even death, is becoming a growing threat to the U.S. blood supply, government researchers said on Monday. There are currently no diagnostic tests approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that can detect the infection before people donate blood. A 31-year study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now suggests the parasitic infection may be increasing. Babesia infections are marked by anemia, fever, chills and fatigue, but they can also cause organ failure and death. The still rare disease is known to occur in seven U.S. states in the Northeast and Upper Midwest in the spring and summer. But a study led by Dr. Barbara Herwaldt of the CDC, published in the Annals ofInternal Medicine, found cases had occurred year-round and in states where Babesia parasites are not found -- including as far away as Texas and Florida. States in which the parasite occurs naturally are Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, Minnesota, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Wisconsin. Of the 162 cases of Babesia infection caused by blood transfusions between 1979 and 2009, nearly 80 percent occurred between 2000 and 2009. "Babesia microti has become the most frequently reported transfusion-transmitted parasite in the United States," CDC researchers wrote, far outpacing malaria infections, which accounted for 49 cases of transfusion-associated disease during the same period, including just five cases during 2000-2009. Premature infants appear to be especially vulnerable. A separate study published on Monday in the journal Pediatrics by a team at the University of Nebraska looked at seven cases of transfusion-associated Babesiosis in premature infants. They found blood transfusions from two infected units of blood caused all seven of the cases of Babesiosis. Symptoms of the infections varied widely, but babies with the lowest weights at birth were at greatest risk of serious infection. The authors warned doctors in areas in which Babesiosis occurs to be watchful for cases in premature infants exposed to blood transfusions. The CDC researchers called for better ways to prevent and detect cases of transfusion-associated Babesiosis. "Our findings underscore the year-round vulnerability of the U.S. blood supply -- especially, but not only -- in and near Babesiosis-endemic areas. "They also highlight the importance of multi-agency collaborative efforts to detect, investigate, and document transfusion cases; to assess the risks for transfusion transmission; and, thereby, to inform the scope of prevention measures." To deter transfusion-linked Babesiosis, the CDC in January said public health departments should report all cases of the infections to the CDC. (Editing by Peter Cooney) "

Hope and change are intertwined.....no hope, no change: no change, no hope, no stoke. Simple?

I've already forgotten what Bush used as an excuse. Anyone remember?

Ditto. Pulling of of Afghanistan might be hard but do able too. I read someplace that we had a new military paradigm in place. Essentially, we have small, fast response, highly skilled teams stationed in something like 60 countries worldwide. Military disengagement is something that makes me feel torn. My heart runs to isolationism, but as we've seen repeatedly in history, it can be more cost effective to have those guys in place where an early response and intervention might save you a major heartache later. Think WW2 German for instance and consider the beer hall putsch or any number of potential early intervention scenarios that might have saved millions of lives.

Yeah, it's a bad place to learn to lead. Bad. Just toprope that stuff and don't sweat it. If you want to do easy stuff/nice bouldering and get your strength and skillz up, go to the top on the manmade stuctures. Leave the chalkbag in the car if you would though.

Check yer guidebook. P 19?

Hard to tell if that is a smile for the camera or a grimace frozen in place.

Hey ya you betya, youse guys can get these bags at Walmart. Despite them being made in China, I'd recommend it for you. Get lots of extras.

Yup, got to vote for the black guy like JB or you're a racist. Uhhhh... I don't believe that crap any more than the many people who say Obama is a Jew hater or that he hates America. You can parse Obamas words all day long in quotes to bolster both arguments, but it's still not true ....for either of these gentlemen.

OK, I don't like to post a link to another site to make a story up, but Adam cut a wide swatch around here, is a hell of a nice guy, and he found a sweet lady who digs him and climbing: so they quit work and tooted off to Europe for an extended climbing trip. [/green with envy] These guys are both so much fun to be around. So positive. If you haven't heard from him, this is why:-) Anyway, here they are. http://amyadameurope2011.blogspot.com/2011/08/offwidths-and-new-friends.html?spref=fb Amy on Limestone Adam likes off widths. He goes out of his way to jump on them. We were on Serenity in Yos this spring in between snowstorms, did the 3 pitchs and chose not to do Sons. We bailed due to winds that were growing and had been threatening to blow me nearly off on lead 3rd pitch. They looked even worse higher on the wall, and we were expecting a major storm at any time as the clouds were predominately dark black with a blue sky patch at times and racing over from Glacier Point. I coaxed them over to the Super Slide route, 5 pitches of wind protected 5.9 fantastic crack (we could hear a party on Serenity wailing that they were getting blown off while we were in the sporadic sun and protected a 1/4 mile away). As we are walking down to the car, the sun is dropping or clouding up worse and it's getting cold, and we're done for the day, Adam sees this ugly knash, figures he can use the largest piece we had with us, a #4, in the middle to protect the entire pitch. Hopes he can wrap some slings around chalk stones for natural gear and up he goes saying that it's not the pro it's the mind that counts and this is an easy offwith so he's got it ...mumble mumble mumble mumble he's talking into the OW crack/chimney up he goes..... I'm freaking freezing my ass off in the cold and we've done over 10-11 pitches I'd bet at this point having done Maxines Wall and Peruvian Flake. I'm feeling old and beat and up he goes anyway. It was damned inspiring his "go for it" attitude. Being in the camp with Amy and Adam made the repeated snow, cold and wet we endured most of the trip fun and tolerable. Here's Adam. Posted as "King Beatard" on CC.com. Changed his moniker when I started posting pictures of him doing First Ascents naked. I couldn't copy any of the pics with Amy in them. Just click the link for their awesome story. If you are talking the summit can being missing, that's probably a LNT advocate, but if it's just the piece of paper, that may have been relocated to a museum or archive. I don't understand why people kick over cairns (ducks) either, but there it is. I don't know anyone who does and I've never witnessed it, but clearly some people do.

Played hookey from work last Thursday. Timetraver snapped these photos of Jeff Thomas leading the FA of a route Jeff named KNOWWHATIMEAN. "Old" guy stokage is my way of teasing.... Jeff is a year older than me, Jeff's not old. ...Jus' sayin' .... These are 2 dudes that are a pleasure to be around anytime. I think this pic below looks like the "why doesn't this crack constrict better" look. Know what I mean?

Where is that in relationship to the 5.10 pitch off the little pinnacle?
