Check out the Kayland Spider K(evlar). It looks like a rock shoe you can walk in basically. I haven't tried it out, though a friend has a pair and likes them.

Actually the RCMP do go up to the parking lots in question, where there is a vandalism/theft problem. Solution? DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR!! It sucks, but stories like scott johnson's from Garabaldi Park do happen here. The best I can say is it probably had nothing to do with the WA plates on your car. As for the story in the initial post? I don't know anything of this. I would be suprised if it had happened, and there was no stories of it floating around town by now. How about some more details, Jarred? Especially what campground it happened in? 40-50 people is a pretty big gang. Are you sure of that number? And a friend's sister in-law's, brother in-law... Has all the makings of an urban legend. Could it be dru tired of the crowds at Squamish, trying to scare some traffic away?

There was an incident, but no one was hurt. They were traversing off Banana Peel or they were on Banana Peel's traverse pitch. The rain started and one of them slipped and fell onto some treed ledge or something. They were unable to climb out, and the other partner was not expewrienced enough to haul them or whatever was needed. SAR was called, and they hiked up to the Broadway ledge and lowered in to assist. This is all second or third hand and is guarenteed not to be fully accurate.

Honestly, you won't learn much following aid pitches. You gotta do it. Create the uberclusterf#$k and figure it out for yer self. 1 or 2 lead pitches for a newbie aid climber could equal 4 hrs of belaying for someone... If you are comfortable setting up solo tr's that's a good way to learn. Some belayers can be bribed with : brew: though; you're on the right track.
