    oops I broke it

You should bring me cookies if you don't burn them!
  2. Any one smart enough to mount there own bindings will probably be smart enough to figure out how to use the templates as posted. In case they are not, I will give a hint.... there are dimensions.... Please Beck, can you tell us, without looking at the template, how far ahead of chord center the screw holes for a G3 Targa binding go? I can see why ski shops might think templates suck, they have access to jigs. Duh.
  3. Another tele/crampon option has come up lately... If you use the new K2 riser, it is designed to take a Dynafit crampon.
  4. Which model rack is it?
  5. Next! Riva2, should be good for any three hole mount.
  6. So, let's start a little database of mounting templates for backcountry bindings. Scans of originals are good idea, and if there are no dimensions on them, then put a ruler or something in the pic to allow people to get them printed at the right scale. edit: Beck had a good point, that the dimesions may not be accurate if you print these out. Two options to work around that. 1) Manipulate in image software, until all printed dimensions match those on the diagram. May or may not end up accurate. 2) Draw you own template using these dimensions, and the original as a guide. Always check against your binding before drilling. /edit Unfortunately there is no *freshiezone* specific gallery in the photo area yet, so if you can't host the photos your self, PM me and I will help you find a spot. Here's the G3 Targa to get us started:
  7. Coldest socks I ever tried were pile socks. I find that I vastly prefer the wool. Seems to keep my temperature more even, and no stink.

  9. I know I have read about it elsewhere... I am trying to find other references. I will post them when I do. No, not yet, but I am open to learning it all.
  10. Actually some of the newer beacons are not reliant on crystals. They use digital synthesis to generate the frequencies, and are therefore more reliable. Wrong - the f1 precedes the m1 by many years, then came the m2 and then the x1 First sensible thing you've said all day. The M1 and the m2 have no directional arrows, and only one antenna, therefore, not really digital beacons in the modern sense. Re crystals degrading: from here , bold mine. I think that Manuel might be regarded as an expert in this field. It's amazing how you clowns can argue about something when you have no idea what you are talking about.
  11. I don't think the M-1 really counts as a digital beacon, not in the modern sense of the word.

Was this before or after I was there? 'Coz this sure ain't how I remember it...
  13. Here are some details on the difference 'tween m1 and m2. I seem to remember the M1 had some problems with condensation in the display.

Being in Europe really makes you feel like you just got here, don't it?
  15. *removes mask* my rationale: "A differnet kind of fun" was spray all the way. this thread was not, and the banter was idle and kind of off topic. I debated leaving it, decided to chop it. Pretty arbitrary, but that's my prerogative. I don't like seeing threads degenerate into spray from the start. I like a little spray, but I like content too. Anyway, "a different kind of fun" was my thread, so you really think I'm gonna chop that one? Really??? You sure about that iaxx? Click here. PS: I hate Phish. PPS: finally got to see the vid... that's some rocking skiing!
  16. There are two major mapping systems for BC. The TRIM series covers the province at a scale of 1:20,000, and the NTS series covers all of Canada at 1:50,000. The TRIM maps are available to order as hardcopy, B&W, should be about $5 a sheet. The NTS maps are available in coulour for the most part, and some of the more popular areas are printed on Tyvek as well as paper for $12-20/sheet. To determine which TRIM sheets you might need, go to this web page . Information on ordering them is here. For NTS sheets, there is a site called Toporama where you can browse the sheets and look at them in poor detail, but it will help you figure out which sheets you need. It does seem to be down today though. Map Town has an online index that does not give sheet detail, but if you know the area you need, it should work. To purchase NTS sheets, you can order them from many stores, like the one I work at, or pick them up from an online shop. Fell free to PM me with any other questions.

Try Irfanview , it's a great image utility that lets you resize and resample pics among other things. You can do batch jobs too, so if you want to convert 30 .bmp files to .jpg, then it is handy for stuff like that.

    That's odd...

there doesn't seem to be any one in the chat room tonight.
  22. Oh yeah, I forgot, thanks for reminding.
  23. You're a dick. Yeah, the van driver was an asshole. But all he fucking did was honk. Like that's a crime. Take his plate number and report him. Assault or damage to a vehicle is not justified in a case like this. You self-righteous dicks make me sick. Who's the dick??? Try reading that again, you seem to be having trouble comprehending it. The bold part is what I am referring to.

You are wrong... kind of. A moderator can view the IP adress of anyone who posts in a forum that he or she moderates; ie I can see your IP if you post in the *freshiezone*, but not if you post in Spray or anywhere else. I'll show you sometime if you drop by.
  25. The Grand Wall was climbed twenty years before Cruel Shoes... kinda complicates things don't it?
