Here's my highly unapproved, but quick method on multipitch sport, that works if leads are being swung... -Arrive anchor, throw draw on one of the bolts, the one that is to the side that the leader will be starting the next pitch, ideally. -Tie a figure8 with lots of slack between me and the knot, clip it to the top biner of the draw. -Throw a locker on the second bolt and tie in with a clove hitch. -Redirect the belay rope through the bottom of the draw, belay off my harness. -When the second has lead through, and is at the next belay, I can strip half the anchor down as soon as they have gone "Off Belay", and hang from the clove on the locker; ready to rock as soon as I am "On Belay!" When the leader leaves the belay, the rope is already through a draw. Total gear = 1 draw, one locker. Total time < 60 seconds. Not reccomended, but I like it. It would be major suck if you had to initiate rescue, but it could be done. It is not equalized, and it breaks all the rules. I wouldn't use it somewhere like Smiff where the bolts are questionable, but in Granite, with good bolts, I am happy to hang off one bolt w/ a backup. You can do a variation of this that is equalized, but it doesn't allow you to adjust the length of your tie in, and you hang from the fig8, so it is harder to untie when it is time to leave.

Guess you folks haven't heard about the latest political shenanigans here, have you? There was a bill on the order paper that would have decriminalized possesion of small amounts of pot. However, parliament just recessed for the winter, and when it returns, we will have a new prime minister. The new man, Paul Martin, is viewed as friendlier towards the US administration, and hence there is talk that he will not revive the bill in question.

Now that could be seen as a problem! Ummm, it has tracks, it prolly drives itself, no? Seriously though, I bet it was built where it works, and never leaves there.

My guess is that he wants a directional (digital) beacon. On second thought, he has the M2 in there so

Yes, it's online here.

Threaded is pretty essential for figuring out how to delete the crap and keep the goods.

I also tend not to believe such stuff until I have seen it myself, but I am happy you at least know to look for it. The person who told me about it was not aware of the links at ttips, and he is someone I trust with that kind of stuff. He puts a lot of thought in to each peice of gear that he buys. He is also quite capable with his new B-Vox. He described an incident where the beacon (X-1) basically "crashed." It became unresponsive and had to be turned off and on again to resume the search.

I use it, I don't get paid to. I like it. If someone gave me a tracker, I would use that, same for an f1, or maybe even a pieps. I would rather not use a M1 or M2, and I wouldn't use an X1 . If it comes down to me choosing where to drop my cash though... B-vox. I am curious why more people are voting for the M2 over the Tracker at this point though? Any of those people care to elaborate?

OK, this is the thing that dragged me in to this debate. I have seen a large increase in the number of climbers, way overfilled camping areas, and more, all in Squamish... not exactly a bastion of sport climbing. How do you explain that?
-
exactly. So start a thread about what a cool guy Drew is at bivouac.com cuz we aren't talking about that. I think that's exactly what we are talking about actually. As in; if you can't take the heat, then move away from the fire...

Intuition liners will be: -Lighter -Warmer -Quicker to dry -Better fitting. The "climber's liners" that you mention, may well be Intuitions. They are a heat moldable foam liner. Instructions for molding can be found in a 5.5Mb Windoze Media file here , or a 27Mb Mpeg here. Wish I had some plastic boots to do. -
Got $5? Need some liners to trick out your plastic boots for the winter? Got size 8,8.5,9 or 11 feet? Go to http://www.cheapsnowboards.com/ and navigate here: Navigate: StoreFront/Boots & Bindings/Boot Liners/Morrow Snowboard Boot Liners Then thank your bros over at teletips.com... Original post here... (read it, it's got good info... )

PROBLEM! You are throwing around quantities of caffeine in various drinks, with no reference to the quantity consumed. No one drinks a little 250mL/8oz cup of coffee these days... I would hope that the info in the post by bunglehead would at least be consistent, all coming from one place.

You're not??? minx - you should take him up on this one, I've heard it's not too heavy...

3-5 a week.

Booty! Seriously though, seems like a good enough idea. No harm really. Might save a life or two. I wonder if affects the price?

What I know... The Khamsin series is going to be a thing of the past next year. I don't know if that includes the NoZone or not. They are going to blended with the RT's I think.

This Works. However... at a big resort, where they have the cash, and they care, they can know if you have already validated your ticket or not, and you can get in trouble for being up there without having scanned your ticket. Better have some long straight skis to get out of there real quick!

You can use a 2 locker + 1 non, so weight is not really big diff.
