  1. Look again for the irony... it is not in your being mistaken... I think you will enjoy it when you find it...
  2. air transport is OK, and in some areas of the coast, the only practical method. would you rather have one siren go by you house, or would you like to live next to the hospital, the police station, and the fire hall? It's not like there aren't lots of other areas to go heli skiing.
  3. From this thread on dynafits over at www.telemarktips.com: Oh! The irony!
  4. Because if a heli comes in and drops off some passengers and leaves that takes all of about 10 or 15 minutes. If they are skiing the glacier across the valley from you all day while you are touring up a ridge nearby, then they are annoying you all day. There are some of us who like to be able to enjoy the wuiet wilderness once in a while, and those places are getting fewer and fewer. For me it has absolutely nothing to do with them being from Arizona. I would not support a BC company aplying for tenure there either.
  5. I feel that there is a big difference between mechanized access and the all day operations of a heli skiing company. Yes you can fly there no prob, but this is a different issue.
  6. One helicopter impacts hundreds if not thousands of acres of terrain. One touring group would be invisible to another group just around the corner. They are already in many areas in BC. Same with snomobiles. Why can there not be one little area set aside for non motorized recreation?
  7. I would be cool with this, but why bother??? Why would you want to keep people off your route, or force them to do it in a certain style? Especially on a multi pitch where the rest of the route is at a lower grade, it would be nice for people to be able to aid through the cruxes if neccesary. Think: The Ultimate Everything in Squamish, 5.9+ for the most part, and an 11a crux pitch at the top. A couple of well placed bolts aloow the aiding of the crux pitch for those who wish to, and still allow it to be freed by those who can. I usually try to have the bolt at an easy reach from a good stance.
  8. Lock out the toe release, won't lose them then. Oh, don't fall if you do this. In fact maybe this is a bad idea, but I've heard of people doing it.
  9. My gf is not particularly inclined to mechanics either, but she only took a few days to get used to the dynafits. Use a sharpie to put marks on the boot above the pin holes, where you can see them while wearing the boot, this helps.

Actually... to fill you in on the history of the on the latest board: I hassled timm@y for a while to get that guy back after we changed software... so don't be saying that all the mods are not down with him.
  19. Dynafit skis have reinforcement only where the dynafit bindings mount... meaning you will rip out if you mount them with tele bindings.
  20. Those two don't really count do they? They could be argued as climbing uses...
  21. I f*=+ing hate treewells.
  22. I think if you look a little closer, you will see that's only sort of true. They are having the uppers made overseas, and then gluing the rubber on in the US. Their quality is improving, but it's still not perfect.
  23. Yeah, I heard "Titanic" was up for some prizes in the documentary category.
  24. It has been snowing out there already... snow in Banff, Roger's Ass, and at the top of Red Mountain which is close to Gimli, but lower. It is supposed to warm up next week though so who knows?
