I've had some incredible wipeouts landing flat on my back when snowboarding. Miraculously, I’ve never had one of those things break. I think your was probably a manufacturing defect.

While I'm sure there's parties, I've never had a problem. Even over the 4th of July when I though the place was going to be a zoo.

Just a heads up to folks heading to Tieton Canyon. The Everett Mountaineers are running their Leading on Rock classes at Royal Columns May 26-27 and next weekend, June 2nd and 3rd. We'll work around other climbers at the crag and yield to routes not being climbed, but Western Front and Rap Route are going to be crowded. Thanks, tt

There's also Self Rescue by David J. Fasulo. Fasulo's descriptions are not so straight forward and don't always match the illustrations, but Mike Clelland's illustations are what make this book. Also, the sequence of topics is very good. I think the scenarios an analysis of the other book are very good. The two cover the same ground, but they're nice compliments to one another.

No lie about loose rock. Fun route well worth it though. Also, smart to photopy the route description and topo including the rap route. I'd hate to top out and have to figure out how to get down as the sun goes down.
