Got new tires, replaced wheel bearings last year. I'm hoping it's only a loose strut. Replacing them would cost a bundle : (

    Car Talk

I have a noise coming out of my car that has me worried. It’s kind of a blend of a rattle and knock… knaka-naka-naka-naka that rises subtly on the highway when I take my hand off the steering wheel. Yes, there’s a little road vibration that’s transmitting to the steering wheel. I noticed it ever so subtly two or three weeks ago, but this weekend, it’s suddenly bad enough that I think I need to get it fixed. My question is, do I need to get this fixed asap, or just soon. Year: 1997 Make/Model: VW GTI VR6 Transmission: 5 speed manual, front wheel drive Also, can somebody recommend a good VW mechanic in Seattle – not the eastside… I need to be able to ride my bike to it.
  5. If I remember correctly, in Casino Royale (the book) Bond takes his Martini stirred, not shaken, and it's two parts gin, one part vodka, one part vermouth.
  6. Notice the little B (not little T) stamped into the head.
  7. Or a hangar, nut and wench... I mean wrench.

  11. No snowshoes needed. Longmire gate is open 24 hours now.
  12. I hiked up Friday and boarded down. It was super hot and had been all week. I hiked up in mountaineering boots only because I just bought a new pair and wanted to test them out. Otherwise, my snowboard boots would have been fine. If the we get a cold snap, you might want to rethink that. Tele boots would kick step fine, regardless. Snowboard boots would take twice the effort if the snow is hard in the morning. That's only the case for pebble creek, a short but steep section.
  13. UUUUhhhhmmmm, NO. It does have men in it
  14. The anchor bolts at the top of Good Timer are wiggly loose. I saw somebody out there with a wrench trying to cinch the hangar, but when I climbed up to it, I didn't trust the right hand bolt and just belayed off the Rap Route anchors next to it.
  15. Sometimes I think of those ork like things in the Fifth Element. If you kill the leader, the rest won't know what to do.
  16. That's what I'm thinkin'. From Canby do you turn off and head south to Adin? I think I took that way home two years ago, but it looks like a minor road on the map. Jogging east to Alturas then south to Susanville looks like the highway.
