  1. Anybody have info regarding the NE Rib on Shuksan's Summit Block from the Sulphide Glacier? Beckey describes it from the NF approach. I haven't seen anything about coming around the east side off the Sulphide. From pix it looks like there may be a sizable moat and steep terrain to traverse initially when getting onto the Crystal Glacier. Anybody done this via the Sulphide approach? Any beta would be much appreciated. Thanks,
  2. No worries of heart atack. If so, I'm on day 3 and haven't keeled over yet. It does feel like a broken rib. It huts when I breath deep, cough, burp, or have gas inside moving things around. The weird thing is, it's right under my chest plate about 3" off center. Only soft tissue organs (i.e. lung) that I can think of. I'd go see a doctor, but it's not life threatening, and don't have insurance at the moment. Any other ideas on what this might be?
  3. So yesterday I woke up with a weird pain in my chest. No, I wasn't having a heart atack. I thought it might have been heartburn, but it's a distinct sharp pain offset on the right side of my chest when I swallowed weird, burped or sneezed. Today when it would kick in, it really hurt. WTF??
  4. It started with a notion No more trail Better Lots of work though Dawn Ericson diggin the nice trail work A lot nicer Happy Crew Thank you Nikwax, Outdoor Research, and all the other folks that helped out and threw in goodies
  5. Trail looks crappy. Sure be nice if somebody would work on one of these trails us climbers use
  6. Dave, you're always working on "another" trail
  7. More, you should ask
  8. Sweetie, curves are always better than straight
  9. I like them a lot. The curve allows them to place in spots where a small nubbin would stop a straight sided hex from being slotted. I really only use the larger ones.
  10. Hey Mods, can we get this moved to the Events Forum?

  12. Nobody even mentioned Condorphamine Addiction... oops.
  13. As climbers, we have an impact on trails and are often off-trail to get to climbing routes. In short, we impact the land. Here's our chance to give back. The Washington Climbers Coalition in conjunction with the Darrington Ranger District and the Everett Mountaineers will work on Eight Mile Creek Trail, the trail used for access to Green Giant Buttress and Dreamer, Saturday June 3rd. I bet MattP a keg of beer we could get a dozen or more of us off of CC.com to represent the WCC and the climbing community at large to help, a nice show of grass roots support to the land managers that climbers care about access to Darrington Rock. The Everett Mountaineers sponsor this NTD event every year, but it was Matt and the WCC that steered this event to a badly needed project that climbers use. There should be a few nifty prizes from Outdoor Research, Nikwax and others. Let's make the most of it... drink beer, dirt bag it at the trailhead Saturday night, and climb in Darrington the next day Moderators, please move up to Events - thanks
  14. While the Bend isn't open, a couple of easy routes that get a thumbs up are Eat a Peach Alar People Places and Things Ed's Jam (careful of rope eating crack) The Fan Route at the Oasis has new chains to replace the swingset chain that was there last year. Bring the route description and a helmet for Ride the Lightning
  15. Yes, very sad. Larry gave tirelessly to the club and inspired others to do so. He was a monster on the mountain and could move fast. My condolences to Sandra and support to his two climbing partners and the entire Everett family who are hurting in the wake of this incident. The light of one of our candles just went out

  19. At first I was gonna cry out, sellout fags! Then I thought about it. If somebody came up to me and said, "hey, can I take your picture wearing these new threads? You get to keep 'em after." I'd probably say sure.
