  7. The local news channel has reported that the lava dome has actually moved...about an inch in height and an inch and half to the north. Also the earthquake acitivity has increased suggesting a magma erruption. Gosh I never thought I would see this volcano blow twice in my lifetime! Kind of funny how the reporters are trying to get solid information from the scientists but they refuse to speculate...
  8. Not Caveman!
  9. Mt. St. Helens is now off limits to hikers and all climbing permits have been suspended for the time being because of recent seismic activity. 10-12 earthquakes in the 2-2.8 range in the past 24 hours. Just heard this on the radio. They're calling it "volcanic unrest".
  10. Have you seen a doctor lately? Perhaps it's a symptom of something else.
  11. doesn't this belong under "fakes"?
  12. I remember getting soaked in the Sierras on a backpack trip wearing jeans back in the day when synthetics were for discos and not the outdoors. Luckily we had Gary H., a pyrotechnic along, expert at starting fires who also carried a clean t-shirt for every day of the 10 day trip. After the storm, my friend and I snapped our two army surplus rain ponchos together and pitched a tent. Not exactly a bivvy - I have yet to have my first.
  13. It's hard for ME to watch Bug suffer.

  18. You need the Microsoft Word/Office application. If you don't have it you may be able to open them in AppleWorks. Control click on the file and choose "Open with...". This action is similar to the PC right click. OR open AppleWorks first and then try opening the files from within AW. Good luck.
  19. There was a big write up about this in yesterdays NYTimes. Apparently older models (pre-2002) are less susceptible to the pen picking. I have an old Kryptonite that's at least 10 years old - maybe older - but I haven't tried picking it with a pen yet. But then I'm no bike theif either. I have to wonder - does this spell the end of the Kryptonite company (with all the trade-ins, bad press, etc.) and if so, who will take their place?
  20. whatever happened to Uncle Tricky anyway? One of the best writers around.

    Burn Out or Rust?

what about the people on the planes? No escape whatsoever and just watching in sheer terror, absolutely helpless, as their plane plummeted straight into the towers. The ultimate horror I think.
