Clearly if everybody had been armed with a gun, there would have been a mutual fear of being shot and the entire squirting incident could have been avoided altogether. Would we really want to live in a country where we can own guns to protect us from a bothered citizen with a water hose? It is clear to me that lawlessness of this sort combined with a relatively un-armed populace is going to lead to Canada's swift downfall. If I were you, Dru, I would get to work forming a CRA (Canadian Rifle Association) if there isn't already something like that up there.

For those interested in this kind of stuff, I would recommend putting together a loop around Glacier Peak. There isn't an "official" loop around it as there is with Rainer, Adams and Hood but you cross some really amazing ground. -
I'm confused...why would you skin UP but pack your skis for the way DOWN??

Well, I don't know how the discussion drifted off into communism - maybe because I didn't read the first half of this thread. My point was simply that some regulation of a capitalist market is nescessary to some extent. Why people think we would be better off living in a world where companies polluted even more and workers were fucked even harder bewilders me. It's as simple as this - we as taxpayers shouldn't have to pay to clean up the corporate world's mess, be it socially or environmentally.

Complete free market advocates crack me up. They argue against hundreds of years of history. Do they even realize what the market was like in America in the late 19th century? Not only did workers suffer, but consumers suffered from monopolistic practices. And we aren't talking about harmless Microsoft monopolies, but monopolies on essential goods. More so, our recessions were more frequent and more severe. Kenysian economics have proven to work very well for everybody involved. Let's be honest...how can anybody claim that bussiness "suffers"?? They still have the riches, buy a vaaaasssstttt margin. I think limiting them from establishing monopolies, destroying the commons and putting workers into deadly labor conditions without a living wage is a pretty reasonable thing. But no, the Republicans would rather push the balance back towards them because, as we all know, life just suuucks today compared to 1890.

It's gonna be funny to look back at GWB's history 50 years from now and realize what a joke he really was.

I've heard of that long enchainment with gear caches that you mention...I just completely forget the details. But it was a loooong trip from way up north going throught the ptarmigan traverse and past, if i remember correct. But Wayne is right, that is a whole different beast that climbing along a summit ridge.

To use the common answer on this thread: pretty much anything is possible. Whether the route "goes" or not is up to you and how much work and difficulty you are willing to take on. I have never climbed the headwall, but I can imagine there would be a great deal of weaving and climbing in and out of slots at this point in the year, not to mention some pretty rock-hard ice.

I meant Colorado's biggest rivalry. Alabama/Auburn, FSU/UF - now THOSE are rivalries. And who in the name of everything holy would want to go to school in Oklahoma?!

One man's floor is another man's ceiling. Yeah, seriously...no shit. I have to disagree with Klenke that hitting the true top of that spire will be raising anything to a "new level." That face WAS *the* level - they did the real deal. If somebody else goes and follows but goes all the way to the top, I still consider that a smaller accomplishment and less adventurous. They, quite literally, went into the unknown. THAT is the adventure. In other words, what is that summit without that badass face? Another pile of seriously fucking remote rocks but that is about it.

The Petzl Myo XP, while quite expensive, is the shiznit. The 3.5 watt LED is super bright - I was amazed. I had a BD Xenix before and the Myo XP is definitely brighter.

You know the sadest thing? Louisiana will again vote for the idiot republican that runs in '08 despite getting the major shaft from this administration.

HAAA! That is awesome! wow! oh, i can't wait to hear the neocon response to this!

Oh, I'm sure. Why nominate a more mainstream justice when you can have your newcon senate leaders go against hundreds of years of established senate rules.

All and all, as much as I think Bush is a shitty economic president, I can't honestly rail on him for the unemployment rate being *that* low. It's rare (and, eventually, unhealthy) that the economy be fully employed. Remember that full employment is around 4%, so when you start flirting with that number, inflation will follow suit. Now, on the other hand, the current unemployment situation doesn't count the large number of people that either went back to school or have been dropped from the labor force. Count in those people and the rate would be higher. -josh

I don't think Bush's replacement for him could be any worse (conservative) so I feel it's pretty much a wash in that regard.
