...for passing out free candy in the student union that I can take as I walk by and ignore you and your attempted harassment of me.

Did I say I agreed with him? No, I don't, he's a dipshit. I'm just pointing out what some might see as an irony. Then again I can certainly see how anybody to the right would hate somebody who does anything that could make walmart (or anybody for that matter) pay more taxes.

Too bad it will be a while before a nearly harmless drug becomes legal thanks to pharm lobbies, tobbaco money and the republican party. Sorry, couldn't resist making yet another cc.com thread legal.
-
Wow, where is that? That's a reall neat looking formation.
-
Of course the article gives some blame to the media, since we all know they are the root of all evil in the universe.

The weather down there is really gross.

Clearly the flu is god's way of dealing with homosexuals and those who kiss on first dates.

Shouldn't you as republicans applaud letting the "private sector" (Mr. Diamond in this case) do the legwork? The companies are breaking the law and sooner or later somebody is going to have to go after them. Wouldn't y'all rather have people like him to more of the work and reap part of the benefit? I'm not saying this is what I believe, but I could see some ignorant repub spouting this off.

No way. With the frequency of natural disasters compared to man-made ones the chances are the next will also be natural.
-
I never meant to imply that the Nazis were Christian. I was simply using the Nazi comparison to express how horrible I think the CC is.

WOW...HG800...If I recall correctly I puked one of those up one night...

NBC affiliate => Mother Nature Delivers Early Season Snowfall Fox News => Early Season Snowfall Snarls Traffic Notice how NBC hints that the snow is a gift from mother nature where as Fox clearly argues the snow is a bad thing? Conspiracy is at work here and I smell right winger. I am so misunderstood.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/11/miers.ap/index.html This article is full of classics: "In 1997, Miers sent Bush a belated birthday card featuring a sad-looking dog and the note: "Dear Governor GWB, You are the best Governor ever -- deserving of great respect!" BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH...I'm just gonna assume she was being friendly and that isn't actually her opinion. "...Miers' record as chair of the Texas Lottery Commission from 1995-2000." Now *that* is supreme court material! I've gambled in Vegas before, think I'm qualified? "Bush wrote back to wish Miers a happy 52nd birthday, telling her that he appreciated her friendship and to "never hold back your sage advice." He ended with a postscript: "No more public scatology."" Now this one I don't even know what to think of. I actually had to go to the dictionary to confirm what I thought this meant. I really hope there is another meaning I am not aware of. Scatology *The study of fecal excrement, as in medicine, paleontology, or biology. *An obsession with excrement or excretory functions. The psychiatric study of such an obsession. Obscene language or literature, especially that dealing pruriently or humorously with excrement and excretory functions.

What policy instrument would you like to see put into place for job creation? Are we talking private or public sector jobs? It's easy to create public sector jobs, but in the long-term, doing so does not always result in a net-increase in employment. Well, I could certainly sit here and try to come up with my supar #1 economic job creator plan but my point is maybe his first step could be admitting that things could be going better rather than basing his entire presidency, and thus blaming every problem, on 9/11 and terrorism.

Ahhh...c'mon, it's all in good fun - unless you voted for the guy, then it is more shameful than fun.

Germany had a branch of the CC too, didn't they? I'm pretty sure I read about it once. I think the German word for it was "The Nazis" if I recall.

There was more to it than that. But what is it with Texans and their damn cronies? All presidents nominate their friends to positions as payback for support. But usually in the past the nominees were qualified, or the position was unimportant (ambassador to Belize, or something like that). Good point. It probably has something to do with the fact that this president is a complete mental lightweight and tends to associate with others possessing similar mental qualities. The cronyism in this administration has reached new heights. His supreme court nomination is a perfect example. Independent of her views, it's laughable that Bush says she is the most qualified for the job. He may as well just say he is hooking her up cause she was his sidekick because I don't think he is fooling anybody.
-
Last time I checked it was Bush that went on and on about nominating Alberto cause he was hispanic, nominating this supreme court justice cause she was a woman, etc. etc. In other words, trying to do whatever he can to prove he isn't a "white cracker", as you said. Last time I checked it wasn't the democratic party screaming that we need another woman to replace Sandra. It is too bad we don't have poll data comparing political party affiliation with racist or xenophobic views. You couldn't count on anybody to answer honestly, so it wouldn't do much good. Last time I checked, however, English as a national language, religous intolerance and reducing immigration quotas for non-europeans were all issues trumpeted by various right-wing factions, not liberals.

PP, you just try too hard. Re-read those headlines. Now which one do you think paints the government worse? A headline that says an informant was lying or one that says the info wasn't substansiated? To me, the second one could more easily be seen as "the government fucked up", as in they didn't do the work to substansiate the claim. The other headline just calls out that some dude was lying. Now that is after I analyze them. If I wasn't a paranoid right winter (such as yourself) I wouldn't have analyzed both of those headlines to death trying to prove some liberal media bias. You are trying way to hard. Better luck next time. Oh, and btw, i have decided to switch to waching FOX NEWS exclusively. I find that the other networks' lack of the onscreen "TERROR ALERT" color indicator threatens my safety. Now, if you want talk bias, what does putting that piece of shit on screen all day say? Hmmm...fear and loathing?
-
that is because it is likely to be true. Liberals are some of the most sexist/racist people I've met. LOL. Yes, your average liberal is clearly more sexist and racist than your average white republican-voting southerner.
-
But of course the Iraq war was still justified... As far as the NYC Subway thing didn't the say very specifically that they had a "substansiated" threat??
-
It will be fun to see 50 years from now just how mediocre history views W's presidency. Besides 9/11 and the quagmire in Iraq he has little to show for 5 years in office. Oh, I forgot, he oversaw a huge loss of jobs while he sad idly by and proposed no means of job creation.

CU has one of the best astrophysics depts on the planet. It has also sent more astronauts up than any other (public?) school. There are some really great programs here, and some really smart profs. Of course there are other depts which aren't top notch. However, with the 2004 US professor of the year, two nobel laureates (sp?) in '01 and another this year I think you'd be hard pressed to characterize it as a shitty school. As far as the other aspects, it is pretty hard to beat life here. I've met awesome people and the area offers everything. And I'm really looking forward to Haloween since last year featured both a big snowstorm and a big ass riot. Winter/Spring in Boulder and Summer/Fall in Seattle would be ideal for me. P.S. I have the answer to conservatives who complain about liberal academia - shut the fuck up and study something meaningful then get yourself into academia rather than persuing a business degree and devoting your life to the bottom line.

Some big ass wet storm is blowing through CO right now. It's snowing at elevations just a little bit above Boulder. It is low to mid 30s here right now and drizzling - lovely, reminds me of seattle in december.
