  1. Somebody should tell that to Scot'Teryx...
  2. Getting wet doesn't piss me off as much if I can dry off later that night

    BEST MARTINI

bombay sapphire and tonic for me, please. never been a huge martini fan.
  5. wow...class-act reply dox, if I do say so myself. doxey, do you climb with a gentleman by the name of seth pollack? I think I recognize your name from his photo collection or something.
  6. I skied a 188, which, with me being only 5' 10", was too long. I could definitely ski it, and they rocked, but if I hadn't bought them used, I would have gone with a shorter length. I'm a huge fan of shorter skis now, esp. for touring. my two favorite pairs of skis are both 175s now. My new dream is a pair of this year's AK launchers in a nice short lenght. pick them up...they are *super* light...would make an awesome fat touring ski. Unfortunately they are damn expensive, so I'll wait until they can be had used or on sale.
  7. The bandit XXX is a great all around fat ski in my opinion. I've skied a pair for 3 years and recently traded them away to skisports for some other stuff. They ski powder awesome (obviously) but also handled pretty much every form of crap that alpental through at them with relative ease. They are an awesome crud buster and and they completely fucking rocked in soft spring snow. In fact, I'd generally ski them over any of my other skis in the spring. These were a few years old, so I'm guessing you could get a pair of that age for fairly cheap now...maybe from some gumby who bought them during the fat ski craze and isn't using them????
  8. Yup, I confirmed this with the darrington RS earlier today...doh...forgot to post that. Not surprising considering the (lack of) snow pack.
  9. So, basically, now there are like 6 pinned posts at the top of this thread. No offense to the topic-starters, but I dont care about any of them. Is there a way in our personal settings to turn off displaying pinned posts?
  10. Assuming you mean top on our pesonal lists and not tops in terms of technical difficulty... Alpine: 1.) Mount Shuksan, Price Glacier 2.) Mount Rainer, Liberty Ridge 3.) Torment/Forbidden Traverse Trad: 1.) Orbit or Outer Space on SCW 2.) Anything in the bugaboos 3.) Anything in yosemite Ice: 1.) Climb good stuff in Banff again this season 2.) Climb in Hyalite this season 3.) Drury Falls (if we ever have a winter)
  11. That's still a damn long time to be hiking/running/whatever. Would you planning on having help parties along the way for water, etc, or take everything on your back?
  12. No, Matt, you are definitely correct. This is not a hike I'll be taking my girlfriend on. On the other hand, it sounds interesting, so the thread has deviated
  13. john, not sure if I could go, but check your PMs...
  14. http://www.nps.gov/mora/trail/wonder.htm This site at the NPS says NINTY THREE MILES! gah!! Man, doing 93 miles in a day would be simply unbelievable.
  15. mt baker rules. with little fanfare, they've actually talied up about 3 feet this week...
  16. Yup, I noticed that after I posted. I was looking on topozone to get an idea and headlee pass was off the screen so I didn't realize that it was quite a bit closer.
  17. klenke, who all is going? If I can get out, would you opposed to another in your adventure-seeking crew?

AMZN would have been better off if they had tossed Jeff Bezos 5 years ago. Here he is, sitting on the biggest name in the eCommerce game and instead of simply using that name to generate money out of thin air by laying all the costs on middle men he decides that building warehouses and cometing with Walmart would be a good thing to do.
  20. Current snowpack data from 1/15 http://www.seawfo.noaa.gov/products/CLISNO Well, on the good side, at least it isn't 1981

    Ice

OK, so it sounds like the areas you are going to be looking at are in line with what I was thinking. I noticed some good opps for ice last time i was up there. You still heading up there to ski tomorrow even with the current forecast? I don't mind skiing slop, but that ghastly 8k snow level could be not-so-friend for avy.
  22. c'mon matt, you know unsolicited replys are the norm around here. Good point, I should have clarified, but I'm more interesed in lewis peak in general, not for taking her up it. As I'm sure you know, the monte cristo peaks are mighty pretty...t'would be a mighty nice view to look upon them from up high and up close in the winter. It sounds like a good candidate to take one of my non-technical but physically fit friends on.
  23. Some do I suppose... What'cha planning on climbing in lil', jja? (specific routes I mean, not just "ice" )
  24. LOL...I'll propose this to her and see what she thinks! Thanks for all the suggestions. Mazama ridge is a nice one. Klenke, I'm interested in your lewis peak suggestion. I love the monte cristo area but I haven't climed lewis peak specifically. do you have any more details? I'm assuming you'd park at barlow pass, which you can probably drive all the way to in this shitty snow year. What does the climb look like after that? I assume it's almost all forested and along the ridge, and thus that is why you think it's pretty avy safe? thanks!
