  1. Greg, I've held the same good job for about 7 years now. I'm not in school, nor have I have I ever taken government money or a loan. So you can throw that theory out. I live in a society (as you do) and I believe that the society as a whole should share the costs of some things. This every-man-for-himself bullshit is idiotic, go live in a third world country if that's what you want. Hell, you'd probably like it...lots of great assault weapons to be had in the 3rd world. Personally, I'm against the war in Iraq, so why the fuck should my taxes go to pay that? Seems awfully similar, doesn't it? In fact, by your rational, I don't use the part of my street going east from my house, just the section going west. Why the hell should I be paying for that part of the road I don't use? I can't believe my fucking money grubbing neighbors want me to pay for them to use that part of the street! Thanks, but I'll choose to live in a place where everybody has a set of equal services that they can count on.
  2. It's funny because what I said is exactly what all you right wingers always call for...taxes paid by the people who use the services. Typical right wing hypocracy. After all, why try to improve life for everybody when we can instead rip down forests, build roads through them and pass laws getting more assault weapons on the streets!
  3. I still maintain moses would whoop on him...40 years in the desert? the man was hardcore...beckey style...
  4. hey, can anybody think of a good scenic showshoe or ski tour to do when the avy danger isn't so great? I need something to take the girlfriend on. I'd just rather not be stuck down in the woods or the rainy lowlands.
  5. will, good website. I was wondering if you know how often the denny creek falls (keekwulee, snowshow, franklin) form. is it quite rare? I've been up that trail many times in the summer and I've wondered if they would freeze in the winter at all.
  6. Yeah, and the russians also were way ahead of the US in the early space race. their solid rocket booster technology was way ahead. 10 years later, look at who was on the moon and who was copying aircraft designs left and right. It's not who starts out ahead, but where you get in the end...
  7. Hmm....I'm imagining that would be a pretty damn quick way to go...on the bright side, at least it would take GW and cheney with it...
  8. He'd get scared off the toof. Moses would have to ropegun him up most everything.
  9. Oh, and before you point it out, yes, I realize a progressive gas tax would be impractical to implement. It is a "if I were king" thought...
  10. erik and co, to directly answer your question, yes, I agree it's more fair that those who use should pay whenever possible. That's why I fully support a big ass gas tax. I'd much rather pay for roads, etc. via a gas tax than general taxes. In fact, if I had my way, the moron who drives a hummer/suburban/expedition to and from work with only him or herself in the car would pay more per gallon than the person who drives the 70mpg honda insight. Why? Because they cause more damage to the roads, cause more accidents and damage to other cars, pollute more, require more resources build, and just generally piss me off when they drive slow and get in my way. You can call me liberal and dumb all you want, but there's my opinion...
  11. Not that I attend and have any business giving an opinion here, but I will take this opportunity to point out that Redmond may possibly be the most boring place on earth.
  12. LOL, yeah, you're probably right about that So I suppose the Fred vs. Bob comparison is a good anti-smack message
  13. Well, bronco, why don't we just say screw roads and public services all together and pay realllly low taxes? Cars pollute, cause damage to raods and that requires money to fix. Why the fuck shouldn't the people driving the cars pay for it?
  14. Opening the HOV lanes isn't going to do a damn thing to help traffic. It's just going to make getting anywhere harder during rush hour for those people who do make an effort to carpool. I take the bus and the last thing I want is to wait in traffic with everybody else chatting on their cell phones in their suburbans with only 1 passanger. jeezus, what a waste!
  15. Out of curiosity, has anybody who has looked into that further know what the hell good opening the HOVs during non-peak hours is going to get us? It's not during the non-peak hours that I am ever tempted to use them...
  16. Damn, he looks wrecked! To think that fred is probably 15 years his senior and looks a hellavu lot better, and probably feels it too.
  17. I choose to blame tim eyman and the morons that vote for his idiotic bills for most of this shit. CC is right, however, when faced with less money I dont think they always make the right decisions on what to cut and what not to cut.

  21. klenke, is snoqualmie->stevens really only 30 miles? I was under the impression it was more along the lines of 50.
  22. I eat at the nickerson frequently...damn good food, IMHO
  23. I think watching gapers in SUVs in the ditch is almost as fun as the skiing itself. 2 years ago me and a ski friend had 6 straight trips to either stevens or snowcrummit involve 1 or more SUVs crashed, including a completely flipped durango, a sideways explorer, etc. during these stretch we never saw a car have a problem.
  24. Hey, we need base more than anything right now. i'd like powder, but I'd take 12" of heavy snow over nothing now...
  25. the elevation of the american rockies mean nothing...they rise out of a many thousand foot plateau and aren't all that impressive to begin with Poor Josh...obviously you have never been to Glacier NP, The Mission Mountain Range, The Teton Range, The Wind River Range, OR Rocky Mountain NP!!!! You are right, I haven't been to Glacier NP or Wind rivers, two places I very much want to go. I should have been more specific...I really meant the Colorado rockies, and I will stand by that, they aren't that impressive. I laugh when I hear CO people talking about all their "fourteeners"
