I would like to point out that I have it under good athority that cavey was No "jock" in high school. And that he reminds me more of the punks that I knew when I was young than does DFA (no offense DFA). Cavey has the raw hard in your face kill you attitude that I met amongst the homeless angry fucked off generation of punks that actualy lived on the mall and were not just visiting. The punks that I had the priviledge of knowing were not ALL from resonably normal middle class familys, and they were also some of the most straight up honest people i have ever had the joy of knowing in my life. That is what I understood the punk movement to be about... perhaps for those of you that are younger and came behind us, it was a diffrent experience. Life is strange. good question. my thoughts: I have verry little upper body strength. so I find that I rely mostly on technique. I have powerful legs and that is where the majority of my strength is. I learnd alot this summer climbing with way better climbers (thanks Tex) and actualy top roped a real 5.10 with out falls... granted I worked on it for more than a week, but that was a big break through for me. truth be known, I HATE TO WORK OUT! HATE IT!!! but I think to progress any further I will have to seriously start to work out, (and not sparadicly) to build strength and endurance. so bottom line you need a good balence between strength and tecnique... it doesn't hurt to have a good strength to body weight ratio either. I have watched JK start climbing after me and totaly out class me due in part to his strength and size and his natral ability... he's working .10 and .11 now. I suck

with that I do have to agree!!!! Slime ball should not get a "get out of jail free card" because of a small technacality... And I also agree that as informed citizens we should know our own rights and if we were to get aressted we should be stating our own rights instead of being read them... that said I like the miranda rights and i think they are important to our system of "justice"

okay... so it is a short smith climb.... it looks longer when you are standing on the ledge just below the first bolt with your legs doing an Elvis impersonation. IMHO that is not a beginner climb...just because of the scrambeling and the pain potentioal if you fall between the first and second bolt. just goes to show that because you can do the moves does not make you an experienced climber. I hope that girl is okay.

to climb ginger snap you have to scramble up like 20 or 30 feet of jaggedy scetchy rock just to get to the first bolt, and from there if I remember corectly it is a fair smith climb in length....

all of those things sound to me like they would do some damage to the shoes them selves... I hate stinky feet as much as the next girl, but hate socks and climbing MORE... learn to live with it would be my best advice. also :try to open your shoes up as much as possible when you are not wearing them :don't keep them in a closed bag or back pack EVER :don't leave them in the trunk maybe it is time for new shoes
