I'm guilt of it in the past. You got to go, you have to go. Now my luck has been the wind blowing it back at me

I third the cilogear 30L. I have a 40b nwd and I got a standard 30L that is now becoming my favorite pack. If it does not fit I don't take it, but you can fit a lot in it.

Oh this is sad...

Mt. Hood all this week -- waiting 4 weather window
iceaxe23 replied to bjames's topic in Climbing Partners
My last hood climb was mid December and it was really cold and windy. I have been watching the weather this month and don't think I will go up until it gets much better. -
Agreed. Most of us have done stupid ass shit and by the grace of God survived. Let's hope that is the case for these missing climbers and hikers. Very true, Hope this turns out to be an epic and not a tragedy. Godspeed alpinists

Waterproof La Sportiva Nepal Mountaineering Boots?
iceaxe23 replied to Rickpatbrown's topic in The Gear Critic
I thought they impregnated the leather with silicon or something that is like a DWR and wears off after time. My first Nepals I never treated and they worked fine. My second pair that I used more often started to "wet out" and I treated them. I would wait until they wet out. -
Make sure the regular hero naked model is the hero2 and not just the hero. hero2 has more resolution and features

google "3 gun competition" and you will see one of the legitimate reasons. This is American though and you shouldn't need a reason. No one mentions his gang tats either.

Agreed 100% but I think he is part of a very small minority of gun owners. unfortunately when one of them acts out they can do a lot of damage. btw guns like the saiga 12 or mac 11 are so stupid. Unless you are killing people with them (stupid thing to do) you just eat up ammo and running around shooting trees in half gets old quick (at least for me it did). I've shot AKs and they're kind of fun but again I don't really see the point unless you are killing people. oh and another thing, I'll be in cody for MLK weekend, maybe see you out on the ice! This is sad but you can't go blaming the guns. Saying one type of gun is stupid is the same as saying the car a drunk driver used was part of the cause. Saiga's and Ak's are not the best guns but they are cheaper so more people buy them. The 99% of gun owners see the point of owning them (and killing people is never on the list). As a gun owner, veteran, and a person who has been to that park and seen that ranger before this is just a sad start to a new year. I'm glad the killer was not "hunted and killed" and that nature took care of it for us. I had a best friend taken from me via a drunk driver. Funny that the alcohol was not the root of the cause in the media and such. I know way more people affected by drunk drivers than being in gun related crimes yet people always blame the guns That said RIP ranger and your family is in my prayers

[TR] Mt. Hood - Hogsback to Pre-Season Pearly Gates 12/12/2011
iceaxe23 replied to B Deleted_Beck's topic in Oregon Cascades
I was there on the 13th/14th with a friend and it was freezing! Wind was horrible until the 14th. It was icy too. Good job on your climb and we missed you by a day. The sulfer vents were really kicking too. -
Not sure they could make a buckle system that's as lightweight as a set of laces. While the buckles would likely make for a more secure and stable fit, the added weight and bulk of the buckles is probably a deal-killer with the light-is-right crowd. they tried with the lowa quantum in the 90's

yikes I was just on that midweek

Great photos and superb trip report! What camera were you using?

have you looked at la sportiva baruntse and scarpa phantom 6000? I bit pricey but warm. Also the older scarpa phantom lites that fit small. I have a pair in size 42 that fit like a 41. They are pretty warm and comfy I have seen a few women wear these due to the narrower fit.
-
I just got a pair of the guides to replace the very low volume phantom lites. I normally wear a size 42 in sportia nepals (my lites were 42 and tight on my toes) and I had to go with a 41.5(my street shoe size) in the guides. Very roomy toebox. Heel feels normal to me though. Lots of insulation in these boots too.

pretty much the same with my assault 2, I have to keep the door cracked to stop condensation. I'm only 5'8" so it fits me but not my over six foot friends. It's a great deal for what you get.

4th vote. I have one and the Chernobyl I want to try a cilo 30-30 or a NWD 40 to replace my WT spectra andinista but spend all my money on gas

that is my review on MP and the tent does have a waterproof breathable membrane (got an email from the company to clarify what drywall was as I was told a WB or a DWR). You still need to ventilate it though. It does have taped seams though too which is nice and so far waterproof. If you are near Salem,Portland you can check mine out.
