  1. I just ordered some snowblades with silveretta like bindings and heel lifters. they come with skinns too...I know the euros use them but have any of you have had any luck with them or tried them...I got the Rossignol Free Venture Expedition ones. I was going to get snow shoes but like useing my (falling apart) GI issue all terrian skiis with skinns. but they are very large and get in the way on the climb so I have seen this tiny skiis and thought I would try them..I have been having a hard time finding any info on these snow blades that are made for climbing. thanks for any help
  2. Hello...oh so you had the millet ice expert boots....Yes Sportiva does make that olymon boot for very cold..they are coming out with a synthetic double boot that looks to be very nice but wont be out till after the new year sometime. I was looking for a warm single boot and could not afford the new vasque alpinista. If I go to denali I think I will get doubles...these Jannu boots would be great winter lower 48 boots though. I am going climbing somewhere for a few weeks after christmas and will test them out and see how good they are and if they dri out quick. thanks for the feedback..dan
  3. way cool that you have them and have used them..how do they work on multy day trips (such as moisture build up) glad to hear that they have been warm for you...I was thinking if I used them for denali I could use over boots also...not sure if it would be overkill....you have a photo of yours...would like to see the orange color. I hope to test the out very soon....and see how they perform..
  4. just got a pair of these...very interesting single boot. Has a synthetic inner boot with built in super gaitor. they seem warm and they have a lot of flex to them and are comfy. Anyone else seen these or used them? I sold my nepal extremes cuz my toes always got cold am am going to try these out. Hoping some one else tried them. I think they will work good but are ugly
  5. well if you wait a few months scarpa is coming out with the new synthetic freney the xt. here is what I read about scarpas new boots "Freney XT has the wide last of the Cumbre for better fit and is not flat lasted like current Freney for better hiking, more insulation and synthetic materials translate to more warmth and less weight. Competing with the new LaSport Trango line but at a more modest color of blue / silver. scarpa Phantom is another high alt technical climbing boot such as the Ice 9000, Nuptse, Jannu or maybe Olympus Mons but anyway in that catagory and I am working on a pr for spring trip into the range." Also you could look into kayland multi traction boots "which I think are way great...I got a pair on sale for my girlfriend she thought they were too low volume on the toes...I tried them on but they are to small on me (they feel like rock shoes " but they seem to be what I was looking for...now if I could only find a cheap pair in my size.... or you can go for any of the newmatic crampon synthetic boots from sportiva, kayland, garmont, ect.
  6. anyone know anything about these boots? are they light? they look warm...thanks all
  7. as to the life of the prints I was talking about...they last just as long as normal photo because they are on standard wet photo paper. Insted of shooting light through the negative they just project the digital image in negative onto the photo paper then wet process. So you get true photos...not dye sub or injet. Oh and they are cheap....29 cents for a 4x6
  8. as for output...I shoot pro (weddings and senior portraits) and use The canon d30 and Olympus E-10 and have a pro lab do my printing, but walgreens and walmart just got new Fuji Frontier printers and they can make great prints on real photo paper in an hour (4x6 up to 8x10). I tested it out. You can even upload them to them on the internet and get them mailed to your house. I have printed some at my pro lab up to 16x20 and I can't tell them from medium format. If you have photoshop you can resample the file size and go very big in the prints. I have not shot film in some time. I do have a question for those of you who have used compact flash cards on the mountains...how good do they work in the cold?? thanks all

  10. I second the Garmont Tower GTX boots very very comfortable and quite some flex to them ( i have a pair and love them...my other boots are sportiva nepals). You could also try the Kayland Multitraction wich I heard is a great boot and way comfortable...
  11. Has anyone used this harness? I just ordered one from barrabes. It is 7.8oz and much lighter than my alpine bod. Did not get it yet but should get it shortly. Trying to keep the load down so I can carry the photography load.
