  1. Don't laugh at these guys, they've taken da skillz to da hillz!
  2. If you had ever actually climbed Mt. Si you would know that the summit ridge is much narrower and the exposure much larger than shown in this pic. Mt Si... Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's Logan now, nevermind.

    fat chicks . . .

Not a sheep, but I bet this thing weighs a few kilos: I think I'd be a little nervous if that fucker came at me at the top of SCW.
  4. I just enlarged the photo and its true, the "instructor/spotter" is in Mountaineers uniform and everyone except the "climber" is wearing gaiters, though the girl on the left is wearing her pants OVER her gaiters.
  5. Found this online. I think it might be Mt. Logan (Canada), but it could be something else. Any of you whizzles recognize the shizzle?

    Cheap HC

Horsey Cock is on sale at the Darrington IGA! Just thought ya'll should know in case you find yourself in the area without an adequate supply.... Since I'm a vegetarian, I didn't make a note of how much it was, but I took this nice picture with my fancy new camera: MMMmmmm..... Tangy.......
  7. Those look like snaffle tooth marks to me. Have you been coating your biners in peanut butter?
  8. Are you recommending he leave behind pickets and/or rope? Pick it up on the way back? Maybe I'm just too drunk to understand what you mean by this...
  9. Nope.

  11. We had lots of critters scurrying around us during our bivy at the base of the East Ridge. We were sleeping in bivy sacks in a small depression ringed with rocks and my partner woke up at one point and looked up to see a pika starring at him from the rock about a foot above his head. They didn't chew on/into anything though. Well-behaved
  12. Hi cfire, Ken4ord (another guy on this site) and I were the two guys you met on your approach while we were on our way out. Glad to hear you got the prize. I guess the visibility improved after we left? Congrats and welcome to cc.com.
  13. This very trick is suggested in the latest issue of R&I. It's one that I use quite frequently while sportin'. No reason to put extra wear and tear on fixed anchors... you brought your quickdraws or lockers/slings... Use em! A lot of chains are kinda rusty too which might make your rope dirtier than your nice clean brand-new draws.
  14. I work as a gigaloo in Bellevue between climbing trips. Those microsoft wives don't get all the lovin' they need. DP & Cracken, Thanks for the case suggestions, I'll check that out. My windshirt has a little chest pocket, so for the time being I'll just stick it in there or in my pants pocket. I've only had it for a couple of days now (iain didn't show up to scoop it off my porch ), but so far I like it. It's really small and I've already dropped it once with no problems! Still waiting on the larger card and an extra battery though. You will all be seeing pictures of my ugly mug soon.
  15. OOps. I see I neglected to post David's email address. davidw.goldberg@Seattle.Gov Send an email to David and he will "put you on the list".
  16. Email I recieved from David Goldberg. Send him an email if you are interested in helping out with this project. ------------------------------------------------ I wanted to connect all the folks who've contacted me to support inclusion of a sport climbing facility as part of our I-5 Open Space Project. So, I've emailed you all at once. The web site for the project is http://www.cityofseattle.net/parks/proparks/projects/i-5openspace.htm It provides some overview and history on the project. The Seattle Parks Board is reviewing the site plan, whch currently identifies a spot for a climbing wall. While there is space at this site, it doesn't look like there will be funding in our budget to construct a climbing wall. I've corresponded with some folks on the cascadeclimbers web chat site. About 4-5 people said they were interested in the idea. Amy R. also sent out a notice and I've recieved some emails as a result of that. Since funding is tight we'll be looking to work with a motivated group that could help raise $ or volunteer efffort to construct the project. So far, the Back Country Bicycle Trail Club (BBTC) has committed to building mountain biking trials so we've provided space and material in our budget. COLA, the offf-leash folks, have organized and will provide stewardship and assist with maintenance in the off-leash area. I'd be interested in working with climbers who can bring similar commitment to the effort. I'd be happy to come to meetings, provide briefings etc., however i don't have the ability to organize the effort. Hence the group email to you all. If I get enough responses (6-8 at least) from folks who are willing to organize themselves, I'll set up an initial meeting. You folks would have to mostly carry the ball from there. Let me know if you want work on this. David W. Goldberg Parks and Recreation Project Planner (206) 684-8414
  17. By locking off the rope and backpedaling. I've done this while sport climbing several times and shortened the leader's fall considerably. On trad gear I'd be more reluctant to do this because of the danger of zippering the gear from the bottom, but I don't think it increases the force on the top piece considerably. I've "reeled in" an arms-length of rope when a leader falls, but never more than that. One arms-length, lock it off, and squat or step backwards.
  18. Auction it off on Ebay and give the money to the Access Fund.
  19. Ouch. Sorry to hear about this... Did he hit a ledge? How did this happen?
  20. Recieved this via email. Forwarded it to my dad. He was not amused. George W. Bush's Resume for Re-election: PAST WORK EXPERINCE-- I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I produced a Hollywood slasher B movie. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas; the company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With my father's help and name, I was elected Governor of Texas. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR-- I changed pollution laws in favor of the power and oil companies and made Texas the most polluted state in the Union. I replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog-ridden city in America. I cut taxes and bankrupted Texas government to the tune of billions in borrowed money. I set the record for the most executions by any Governor in American history. I became U.S. President after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes with the help of major Enron money and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT-- I attacked and overtook two countries. I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury. I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history. I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period. I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock market. My record for environmental issues is the least of my concerns. I am the first president in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record. I set the the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one year period. After taking-off the entire month of August, I then presided over the! worst security failure in U.S. history. I am supporting development of a "Tactical Bunker Buster" nuke, a WMD. I am getting our troops killed, under the lie of Sadam's procurement of Yellow Cake Nuke WMD components, then blaming the lie on our British friends. I set the record for most campaign fund! -raising trips by a U.S. president. In my first year in office over 2-million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month. I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period. I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any president in U.S. history. I set the record for least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television. I signed more laws and executive orders effectively amending or ignoring the Constitution than any president in history. I presided over the biggest energy crisis ! in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed. I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history and refused to use national reserves as past presidents have done. I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families -- in war time. I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people) shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind. I've dissolved more international treaties than any president in U.S. history. I've made my presidency the most secretive and unaccountable of any in U.S. history. I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her. I am the first president in U.S. history to have almost all 50 states of the Union simultaneously suffer massive financial crisis. I presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in history. I am the first president in U.S. history to order a pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation, and I did so against the will of the United Nations and the world community. I created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States. I set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any president in history. I am the first president in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission. I am the first pr! esident in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the Elections Monitoring Board. I removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of congressional oversight than any presidential administration in U.S. history. I rendered the entire United Nations viewpoints irrelevant. I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law. I refused to allow inspectors access to U.S. "prisoners of war" (detainees) and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention. I am the first president in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. election). I am the all-time U.S. and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations. My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation) presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S. history. My political party used the Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision. I have spent more money on! polls and focus groups than any president in U.S. history. I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most resented country in the world, possibly the largest failure of diplomacy in World history. I am actively working on a policy of "disengagement" creating the most hostile of Israel-Palestine relations in at least 30 years. I am first president in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security. I am the first U.S. president in history to have the people of South Korea more threatened by the U.S. than by their immediate neighbor, North Korea. I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. I set an all-time record for the number of administration appointees who violated U.S. law by not selling their huge personal investments in corporations bidding for U.S. contracts. I failed to fulfill my pledge to capture Osama Bin Laden, dead or alive. I failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder! the leaders of our country at the U.S. Capitol Building. Even after 18 months I have no leads and no credible suspects. In the past 18 months following the World Trade Center attack I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States. I removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any president in U.S. history. In a little over two years, I created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided since the Civil War. I entered my office with the strongest economy in U.S. history and have turned every single economic category downward -- all in less than two years. RECORDS AND REFERENCES-- I have at least one conviction for drunk driving in M! aine. My Texas driving record has been erased and is not available. I was AWOL from the National Guard. I refuse to take a drug test or even answer any questions about drug use. All records of my tenure as Governor of Texas are now in my father's library, sealed, and unavailable for public view. All records of SEC investigations into insider trading or bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view. All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review. ~ Please consider this experience when voting in 2004. ~
