  1. Sweet! That looks like a great place for a summit bivy and photoshoot.
  2. Shylock will buy it from you.
  3. I think we mostly have a NIMBY attitude about buying cheap and reselling for profit to people who actually need them. Yeah, it's lame, but no lamer than manby other capitalistic activities. As long as that schmo isn't buying the cheap item/ticket I'm trying to buy, I really don't care.
  4. You mean de Gaulle.
  5. What's wrong with holes through coins? Many civilized nations have adopted that practice.
  6. This video is floating around the lab now. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8164769980947055164
  7. About half a million bison now. The American bison is classified as a low risk, conservation dependent species by the IUCN (2002). Only the wood bison, Bison bison athabascae, is listed on Appendix II of CITES (CITES, 2003). http://www.ultimateungulate.com/Artiodactyla/Bison_bison.html
  8. Most folks probably would throw a gender qualifier in there, but ...... Simple. I don't boulder with guys.
  9. linkydink?
  10. What's so hard about it? Your distance the boulderer is directly proportional to how many beans they ate last night and inversely proportional to how hot they are.
  11. Do the regulations require the herd to be spayed or neutered?
  12. I didn't notice the ads until someone pointed them out. I still don't notice them, as my browser window is short enough that I'd have to scroll to see them.
  13. I should point out that he's a graduate of some pansy pandering lame-ass Ivy League school that has some of the highest grade inflation in the nation. A much more respectable ex-President, Jimmy Carter, is a graduate of Georgia Tech, an engineering school, where they don't believe in grade inflation. Because if you can't do your shit right, things crash and explode. Though I can't find exact data, the average ugrad GPA at an Ivy school is around 3.4, and at GT, around 2.8.
  14. The US should to do the following: Eliminate the penny. All nonelectronic transactions are now rounded to the nearest nickel. Replace $1 bills with coins. Make a $2 coin. Punch holes through the centers of some of the coins for easy identification. This is tasteless, but make the $2 coin MLK, and punch holes through him and Kennedy (50 cent).
  15. Climb with a Euro and they'll pull out a double sling, girth hitch a hanger, and clip it to the other hanger, then clip a locker on the sliding X.
  16. Is that pronunciation some American bastardization? I greatly prefer the Italian pronunciation.
  17. Start your own Fight Club and all will be better.
  18. Smoot flat-out says 11b. I don't have the new Yoder guide, but I think it says 12a. It seems really inconsistent if neither are qualified with the clause you suggest. Personally, all I really care about a route is if I can rate it by: - I think can lead it easily. - I think can lead it without hurting myself. - I don't think I can lead it safely. - I think can TR it easily. - I think can hangdog my way up it. - Upward progress appears futile.
  19. I flailed my way up Red M&Ms today on TR and noticed the bolt holes. Weird how Smoot rates the bolted climb 11b but Yoder the exbolted climb 12a? Is that just from the gear placing being factored in? I thought that technical rating wasn't supposed to account for gear placement or pucker factor or risk of injury?
  20. Brian, our problem was the USGS map that we had showed the apparently the old McClellan trail. We didn't know that it was different than the trail on Greentrails (which matches what you encounter on-foot). Did you check Kent out this weekend?
  21. Steve gave a great show. I'm estimating we raised near $2000.
  22. I disagree. It's useful to have girlfriends around so you can break up with them just before a hard climb to help you through the hard leads.
  23. I'm reading about modeling protolytic cleavage.

I didn't find the cat vid funny at all.
  25. But you're not too cool, because that would be frigid.
