The ropes can be ussed by people with floating docks (like me). The packs might be used by homeless people. I have taken old sleeping bags to Capitol Hill a few times and given them away to some homeless folks. People there were really happy to get them. The harnesses are trash.

Sometimes when you hear these kinds of stories you wonder, from the luxury of your own livingroom, how this could happen. I have been hypothermic once and a good friend of mine was lost once on a different trip, east of Crystal mountain. We both had the same experience of having difficulty keeping our gear together. Your judgement goes first. It is scarey. I lost a glove and didn't care. My friend lost both of his and realized it. He looked back and saw them on a log about 20 yards away and almost decided not to go back for them. We have both been back country skiing since highschool (long time ago). I hope this guy does not suffer too much from the frostbite. And I too am grateful to the volunteers who go out there time after time. Right on dudes!

Back in the day, we used to jump off of cliffs in to rivers adn lakes. It got up to 75 feet before someone finally got hurt. Luckily it was just a really bad bruise from hitting the water but having to do a rescue forced a new perspective. We also used to put up a cloud and go free soloing. Fun but not reccommended. I think the most fun I had was putting up a cloud and tele skiing waist deep powder off St Mary's in the Bitterroot. There were six of us and we linked about 100 turns on separate lines before stopping, panting and laughing. Then we put up another cloud.

I got 12 pairs of tube socks, 2 T-shirts from Puerto Viarta, 2 dozen cookies, a scented candle (I was told my bedroom stinks), and a green polo shirt. Here on Lake Sammamish, I have just returned from a 3 mile run in Weyona park. The rain is mixed with sleet and the eagles are hanging in the cottonwood tree over the outlet in front of my livingroom window. I am about to pack up and go over to the GF's house for shrimp and wine and a few more exchanges of gifts. I am already full from a spinach and mushroom omlette with French Vanilla coffee and a croussant. Life is good. PS I already have four guitars but I share your excitement.

My girls just left for their mother's house. The girls were very happy and are now old enough to know that being together is what is most important. Building memories that become traditions is more important than the presents. Even with a split household, they focus on what is worth celebrating. And we think we are the leaders?
