I have read the Old Testament in Ancient Hebrew and the Dead Sea Scrolls in Aramaic and Hebrew and the New Testament in Ancient Greek and Aramaic. The changes made to the Old Testament between 1200 bc and 100 AD were huge. There are no Dead Sea Scrolls with stories from the New Testament. The Bible as we know it became cononized through the Ecuminical Councils. Every council brought more changes to the New Testament. The Trinity was just one. Many of the changes made (like the Trinity) were made so that Christianity and Islam would be easy to distinguish. The Canonized version was in Latin and only the Preists had access to it. That was the significance of Martin Luther and the Gutenburg Bible and the Reformation. They gave all of us access to Jesus. We no longer needed to have a preist intercede for us. The English version is based on the Latin version and it does not hold a candle to the intricacies of the original languages. Nor does it reflect the cultural nuances of the myriad cultural settings. Funny how you will believe scientific theory saying fossilization is impossible but not science saying the Earth is 4 billion years old. Cognitive dissonance? I guess you are too dumb to get it. I have been on Archeological digs with preists, pastors, mullahs, Jews, even Mormon decons and all of them beleive in the effectiveness of carbon dating and in science and in evolution. Oops. The Mormons still beleived in Creationism. But it does not change their faith or love of the Bible, Quran, Torah. One thing all of these people did have was a strong background in the history of the Bible. Most of them had Phd's and all of them at least had Masters degrees in the field of Religious studies. The texts as we get them are multi layered and incredibly rich with value to the Spiritual practitioner as well as historians and scientists. Admitting the earth was not flat did not crush Christianity as was predicted. Neither will newer developments in science that seem to contradict the Bible. I have no problem with my kids being taught evolution theory. I beleive in it as a sound scientific theory and I would be very surprised to learn it was not extremely accurate. Meanwhile, I know God exists and that I have a good relatioship with Him. I beleive you are pining your hopes to an interpretation of stories that were never meant to be taken as literal as you and most other Christians take them. So little time and I am a slow typist. Ditto on most of it. I still have a liberal dose of stoppers on my rack. I have never liked hexes. I find that the points of contact I care about are better handled by stoppers, tricams, or Camming devices. A camming device to me is always mank unless it takes a fall in it's correct orientation. Even in the early forged friend days we saw articles like this with pictures of broken cam arms, cams, and triggers. It was and is not wise to assume that a rotating cam will hold. Put a long runner on it. Or understand that is a crap-shoot. That said, I have seen many types of cams hold falls under unbeleivable conditions. One time a friend of mine fell on a #2 forged friend with only two cams touching the rock and it held. Nevertheless, he didn't hang on it long. For me it boils down to this, the fewer parts you have, the fewer parts that can fail. Give me a solid stopper any day.

I find it more important to concentrate on what I am doing than on what others are doing or have done. The point is if I get all caught up in the question of who is going to heaven or hell, then I am makeing two mistakes; first final condemnation and salvation are issued from GOD and not me, and secondly I miss the oppertunity to help HERE and NOW becouse I am to caught up in theologic abstracts, and miss out completely. I suppose you are right being that I was not actually present during the last hundred years of archeology……as they dug up our forefathers bones…..so I just have to believe it was not all a hoax….of course I can go to the museum and see and touch the evidence….on the other hand what evidence is there that Jesus actually lived? NONE. What evidence is there that Caesar Augustus lived?....buncha written accounts??? The archaeological evidence of many old and new testament sites is no less relevant to biblical factualism than the fossil record is to evolution. I was not arguing if Caesar actually lived……but there is evidence of humans thousands of years ago…..that’s thousands of years ago…..and if I learned anything from Sunday School….Jesus lived 2007 years ago…..so it would seem from physical evidence that evolution makes more sense.
