Maybe we ought to run Kurt through the Spanking Machine for being so cranky!
-
We decided this one last night. Trips like that are called fun
-
That *is* funny Iain, a law that prohibits being a dumbass!
-
LMAO, DFA! Don't forge the part about how hikers always get their proper permits, and climbers are too good for that!
-
I think a few hikers would disagree with that notion!

Fern, I'm not sure yet. Probably once I get some legit snow skills under my belt, I will get an AT setup for moderate BC stuff and out of bounds lift-serviced stuff, but I don't want to have to significantly change the way I ski. One of the things I need to watch out for is getting into anything too floppy or noodly in terms of boots or skis, as even regular alpine skiing really hurts my bum ankle. I'm just getting a little bored at the ski hill, if you know what I am saying.

Women's skis have traditionally been softer and lighter than men's skis. The vast majority of women are smaller and lighter than men, and ski less aggressively. Boots have been similarly softer flexing, but also are cut to the female foot, making fit issues less of a problem. In the case of skis, but what you like, but for boots, if there is a women's boot that is stiff enough for you, get that. Since reaching full size, I have been cursed with having to ski on men's gear, and the boots never fit right. I've had retailers try to tell me that women's boots are just the same as mens in terms of performance, but it simply isn't the case. Now I am coming at this from the perspective of an alpine skier, so if there are big differences in the world of tele, please feel free to correct me.

I'm not necessarily asking for myself, FWIW, but am curious as to where most climbers draw the line. Thinker and I disucussed this in front of Newstips last night and I thought her head was going to start spinning.

Discuss. Be specific, and use examples if necessary.

And what would you know about it my dear...? Sorry to be confusing, that was me posting as Muffy during the Great Identity Swap Hoax of March 2003.

So what I am seeing in the above picture, if I am not mistaken, is a regular alpine ski boot doing AT duty. If this is the case, I would think the going up part would really suck. Am I right or wrong? I think in my imaginary perfect AT setup for an alpine skier, I have alpine skis and alpine bindings that just happen to release the heel for going up, and AT boots, which on the sturdy end of the spectrum, seem acceptable. Also can anyone compare and contrast the weight difference between, say, a typical AT ski, and a light alpine ski, like the aforementioned Rossi Bandit XX? Discuss.

Not sure what a 'cockle' is either, but there were some excellent people at the Club tonight....welcome newcomers!

right after Alpine K got arrested for impersonating a mature adult....

Don't know for sure, but seems like if someone took a newbie out that there could be room for this....have to ponder, though I'm sure there are people here who could come up with a scenario in a snap. Let's not thread drift this just yet though. I'd like to hear if others think this guy could/should be charged or not.
-
If it can be proven that the guy was skiing out of control, then it seems clear that some criminal charges should be tendered. How different is it than tailgating, or failing to head check before a lane change while driving? Just today, I witnessed a high-speed accident on I-5, completely avoidable if the at-fault driver had been following the rules. Similarly, I believe that there are certain circumstances under which a climbing partner might be charged.

Here's what critics are saying about Alpine K's running commentary on the proximity of the Dexter and Hayes to Icegirl's house: "A relentless thrill-ride!" -New York Post " Relentlessly Relentless!" --Los Angeles Times "She doesn't live five blocks from there, not by any yardstick, but you've got to give the guy credit for being relentless!" --Harper's "Two thumbs up () for relentlessness !" --Siskel and the other guy "Alpine K's boyish good looks are overshadowed by his relentlessness , as Icgirl's classic beauty is masked by her irritation!" --Glamour

OK guys, I am leaving Eugene for Seattle now, am hoping we can stick with D and H for tonight's venue. I *should* make it home to check cc before heading out, but should the venue change, someone please gimme a call on my mobile. Thanks!

Actually Trask, that was me and not Muffy who posted that. Examine the spelling if there is any doubt in your mind.

No one really seemed to mind.....

Listen, they never fit me right after you are through with them, and that punchcard from Victoria's Secret you got me is all run out. KEEP THE DAMN THINGS YOU CHEAPSKATE!

OK we will be ourselves again now. Allison and Muffy

Yes, I have, I spent five days back in that area last August, and I still do not consider the Mole to be between Prusik and Toketie. It's not miles and miles out of the way, but it is not on the way unless you detour. We entered via Temple Cyn/Nada Pass and exited via Toketie Lk/Ck.
