E- some of the stuff up around Chair Peak looked passable for yo-yoing. Certainly better than sitting in your office. Still a wee bit crusty, but a couple more days like sunday and it'll be bona-fide. BTW- where the hell did you come up with that Bio? You've been out in the Avawatz toooooo long.

Freeclimb9- any recipies for energy gel that you've found to be particularly good? The comparison of BRS to maltodextrin was based on comments from a friend of mine who used to work for Gu. It seems that maybe the comparison may depend strongly on the batch of BRS. The stuff I have is listed as 'mildly sweet' on a scale of 'mildly sweet' 'very sweet' by the manufacturer- presumably at least a qualitative measure of the carbo type. The sea salt and fructose are good ideas. I'll give them a try.

Well, for those of us that are addicted to Gu, clif shots and the like... I've been experimenting with mixing brown rice syrup (main ingredient in Clif Shots) to make my own. A big jar costs 4 bucks. Of course, the stuff is dang nasty straight, but mixing it with a slurry of gatorade powder (citrus flavors cut through the BRS taste better) it ends up being palatable. Not good, but palatable. It also gets the electrolytes up a bit, which is good for those of us that sweat a lot. The main sticking point right now is something reusable to put them in. It seems that nowhere in town carries the 'official' Gu flask, the Ultimate design is stupidly expensive for what it is, and refillable toothpaste-type tubes are surprisingly hard to find in a reasonable size (less than 6" long). If you want to mimic Gu, use maltodextrin (available in bulk) which has a better complex sugars.

Actually, law enforcement rangers for the NPS do have to pay. In order to be a LEO (aka, "Danger Ranger"), they must complete a program to get a 'commission' similar to those required for chp, police, etc. It is paid for out of pocket. As for training to run a campground? The interp rangers usually rely largely on previous training and spend a lot of their off-clock time reading up on info for their programs (at least this was the case in Tuolumne). long live the pickle suit!

If anyone buys this rack and ends up needing 'Q' clips to adapt to a Tacoma, I've got a pair that I'd sell for cheap (6'er of something tasty, bubbly and hoppy).

Oops, she did it again! (ba-doom-ching- uh.... hmmm... .... uh.... bleh...) Need a way to spice up your CC.com experience, go to your settings and switch to a different language. Is that link still what you think it is when you put it in Hungarian? You be the judge! Procrastination is a wonderful thing.... And, for the true Britney Geek: Página Web

Aside from the details of covers ups of who shot at who first, and who sold what to whom, and who was detained by whom, what amazes me most is the sparsity of coverage on WHY terrorists would do what they do, much less recognizing that there is more than one reason. According to the Webster's definition, a lot of US foreign policy is terrorism. I am not even going to come close to claiming that I know all of the reasons or can offer an informed treatment, but "Because they're envious of our SUV's" seems, at best, like a wad of bullshit. What reading I have done, makes it seem much like people who don't like their countries being treated like colonies. Any informed opinions out there, or suggestions for good reading on the topic? Especially from differing points of view!

Seems a little hypocritical to declare a 'Sanctity of Human Life' day when he's pounding the war drum so hard. Also seems to be a largely political move to secure support from the pro-life crowd. Bush Article Thoughts?

Anyone up for a road trip? That's cool!

Got a ride out there later in the afternoon. Did a few of the joyous hills just E of L. Sammamish. Got back just as the drops started to fall.... Dan, what kind of riding do you do?

There are some really good deals on hrm's at supergo. They have a wireless one coupled with a cycle computer for $30 and a few watch models for slightly more. My brother has the bike one and is pretty happy with it's performance and features. Use the other $60 to buy exercise food.

wait a second... you guys wouldn't be talking about National Pentagon Radio would you? Ever give a thought to the dominant paradigm that is presented there... by an agency that is directly funded by politicians? Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, for example, actually cites ABC of having more balanced reporting of issues revolving around Palestine than NPR. That was based on the distribution of the words 'attack' and 'retaliation' in new reporting over, I think, a six-month time frame. Be critical of all of your sources of information, including the ones you like. That is also good science. How do you know what you know? If you can't answer that, or at least understand why that question is important, then you basically have a lot of poorly supported second hand information whether it is correct or no. Shit, it's friday and time for

I think that Bush is primarily concerned with protecting the Shrubya species. If he keeps fucking up, it may become endangered.

I have heard informally that it is occassionally good to take time off from training to let your body recover. Presumably, this results in more effective training in the long run. Say if you have been training hard for 6 months straight, to stop and take up knitting for 2 weeks. I'm curious if this is true and the correct way to assess how to take time off. Does this mean that you should switch to other exercise types for the rest time (ie, switch to biking), or just work on being a couch potato? Thoughts?

A friend of mine had her back broken when someone snaked a jump and landed on her back. She had taken the jump, fallen, and the 'snaker' landed on her before she could get up. And yes, she was on a snowboard. Don't compound the situation by being a dick.
