but how can I practice my "Freedom point" technique without my euro-style axe?
  2. I wonder if the PC-craze will ever hit climbing routes. What would happen to the classic Owen's River Gorge line "Show us your tits"? Popular for many reasons.

Poking a little fun at the propaganda war that's going on... www.whitehouse.org "If you take this seriously, you are an idiot."
  4. Hey, where's Lambone?
  5. a and to a good man. I saw a film about him at a Banff show a number of years back. I hadn't been aware of his conservation and education work. The world could use a few more role models like him.
  6. Just got back from a weekend at Whistler-Blackcomb where it was definitely not 38 and raining. Got first tracks down seventh heaven with fresh snow on sunday. Damn that place kicks ass!
  7. How big the kernel of truth in this one? It was passed on to me from a friend. Original source is a Canadian commentator. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ On behalf of Canadians everywhere I'd like to offer an apology to the United States of America. We haven't been getting along very well recently and for that, I am truly sorry. I'm sorry we called George Bush a moron. He is a moron, but it wasn't nice of us to point it out. If it's any consolation, the fact that he's a moron shouldn't reflect poorly on the people of America. After all it's not like you actually elected him. I'm sorry about our softwood lumber. Just because we have more trees than you doesn't give us the right to sell you lumber that's cheaper and better than your own. I'm sorry we beat you in Olympic hockey. In our defense I guess our excuse would be that our team was much, much, much, much better than yours. I'm sorry we burnt down your white house during the war of 1812. I notice you've rebuilt it! It's very nice. I'm sorry about your beer. I know we had nothing to do with your beer but, we feel your pain. I'm sorry about our waffling on Iraq. I mean, when you're going up against a crazed dictator, you wanna have your friends by your side. I realize it took more than two years before you guys pitched in against Hitler, but that was different. Everyone knew he had weapons. And finally on behalf of all Canadians, I'm sorry that we're constantly apologizing for things in a passive-aggressive way which is really a thinly veiled criticism. I sincerely hope that you're not upset over this. We've seen what you do to countries you get upset with. Thank you.
  8. MEC used climbing gear page... don't forget to convert to US dollars (usually about 0.65 to 1)
  9. Nice pics in the photo gallery AlpineK. Could you tell what conditions would be like for a similar trip towards ElDorado? Any easily seen gaping crevasses? Glen
  10. Not too many freshiez in texas.. unless you count Bush's favorite brand of white powder ON topic though... Have any of you had a setup with the Dynafit Tour Light Tech bindings? Specifically, when in touring mode, have you had any trouble with popping out? A friend of mine was having trouble with that on their new setup the other day.

  16. Went to Paradise on sunday and just yo-yo'd up and down some slopes. Saw a sweet slope that looked mighty tasty, saw some people cut some nice turns down it, and thought about doing it. Then I looked up at a nearby slope with nearly identical aspect, which had recently popped off a slab with about a 2-3' scarp at the top (I'd guess maybe a day or two old, and the aspect was right to be a wind slab). Decided I might find a different slope for turns since it was pretty difficult to predict the wind loading with the 180° switch in wind direction. Otherwise, bright, sunny and a hell of a lot of fun.

    Seattle Sucks!

Then why don't they move to Kansas if Seattle sucks so bad. You can bitch about things or do something about it. Personally, I think Seattle and the PNW .
  20. Apparently trask saw Frontline last night. Apparently the UN inspectors have been ground-truthing the US intelligence on Iraq and have come to the conclusion that it is total crap. Yes, it may very well turn into a desert Vietnam. It is a very scary and volatile situation. It is interesting that that the brits are following along despite the lack of support from the country. So much for hte concept of representative gov't. Apparently, the only person in the uK less popular than blair is dubya when it comes to the war.
  21. looks like turns on sunday. woo-hoo!
