Two. Two to change the lightbulb and one of them to present the slideshow at the Mounties tonight entitled:
Screwing Upward: Mike Layton
Friday, March 10
7 pm
The Mountaineers, 300 Third Ave West, Seattle
It was one of the last great unchanged bulbs in the North Cascades. With a tortuous approach and a 1500-foot vertical slab, few people had attempted the East Face of Southeast Mox Peak. In September of 2005, however, Mike Layton and some other guy successfully climbed the ladder and screwed the route in just over 18 grueling hours.
Mike Layton visits The Mountaineers on Friday, March 10 to share his account of this groundbreaking event.
