oh well, at least we'd have one.

i think a via ferrata would be a much more interesting way to get to the top of beacon rock than the silly trail that is there now. if we got a via ferrata built, you think there's any chance they might remove the trail?

thats what i was thinking whatever... if you're into shriveled up old prunes. what will you do when yer wife is a "shriveled up old prune"?

Oh. So this is internet porn. really? so that explains why i'm jacking off.

there's nothing inherently "human" or "natural" about responding in a particular way to a feat deemed "impressive"; it's a learned, calibrated response based on a shared sense of "values", a values of "appreciation". as such, it's an artifice of sorts, a tangential sublimation of of of.... loneliness? separation anxiety? in order to fit the established patterns of communality. having said that, i take back what i said about the creative, or non-creative, aspects of climb "rehearsal": once it ceases to be a "creative" act, it no longer carries with it the possibility of learning, so any "rehearsed" climb that leads to conventional success (or non-conventional) is inherently and neccessarily, by definition, "creative". dude...you need to lay off the peyote... you have obviously never visited the Temple of the Peyote Gods....

you do seem a bit high-strung for either of them....

do you really think she really cares much for the recognition? if so, i'm with raindawg....

why does one need to be "impressed"? can one live in such a continuous state of wonder that no single act can dent this? what's a river to an ocean?

i could see how this would be the last thing he'd be interested in doing with his life. if it doesn't interest him, it just doesn't. rehearsal of routes is not a terribly creative act. it could be considered a compulsion even, a neurosis.

5 months of rehearsal doesn't. Not so. There is a pattern to my discontent. Much of it involves environmentally dubious "sport-climbing" and secondly, it's stylistic practices, some of which have been incorporated into trad-climbing(e.g. hangdogging, seige-climbing - like the above 5 month exercise ). 5.14 trad crack...nice effort; siege climbing, however, doesn't impress me. i can understand how one wouldn't be "impressed" by certain "accomplishments". there's nothing "wrong" with that. I'm not sure why this would be so offensive to some.... maybe because raindawg seems so dismissive? but is he dismissive of the act itself, or the excitement the act arouses in others? perhaps it's a little of both.... i am curious as to what "impresses" raindawg, so as to understand him a little better. maybe nothing "impresses" raindawg? i could see this as a potentially desirable mental state, if it isn't rooted in dismissive judgmental attitudes.... "expect anything, be surprised by nothing."

Wanna fuck something simple up? Call the Democrats

...maybe because they aren't. actually fw, they are. from social security to taxes to health care to inheritance tax to war and the military budget, the conservative republican agenda is not favored by the majority of americans. it's actually not even close on some of these issues. -
it would only be natural for one's ideas to change, as changes occur in one's life. this can be both a danger, and a sign of maturity and greater perspective. i think it's a danger when these changes hinge solely on self-interest. i've seen people go down this road, and i've certainly felt animal brain cortex pressures to do so in my own life. i believe the government has a vital role to play in mitigating a variety of problems that the private sector has no solid history in mitigating. often the lip service given to "less taxes so i can help more effectively" is either naked greed, or ideological blindness (believe me, i've seen both. some disgusting moments have been spent at small business lobbying group meetings seeing this with my own eyes, and that is a path i'd never wish to go down). i very much believe in a progressive tax system, even though it means greater taxes for myself.

why, picking the next prez, perhaps? i doubt the dems will have a candidate til this summer.... and copying their campaign methods. it's weird how a party that's in accordance with the public's opinions on almost every issue can manage to lose elections. -
that's not binging. 2 pints in a sitting is binging. yes, i've binged.

i bet it woulda been kinda boring to watch, but big props beth for persevering. she's good at that, and inspirational. there was a vid of her on The Optimist, and that was rad cuz of her perseverance again. couldn't do half the moves at first, and stayed at it for 6 weeks. will not take no for an answer!

i would only be repeating stats about economic stability, limited inventory in particular neighborhoods, an expected 20% population growth in the next decade.... all important factors certainly. and even seattle can't be looked at as a whole for an accurate picture; look at particular neighborhoods. this is only true from a statistical stand-point (and i am not a fan of statistics). statistics are for the herd, since they represent the herd. i'm a fan of counter-currents, differing perspectives, wide-angle lenses (pointed at the photographer), skulls and flowers, shit like that. daniel johnston, krishna das, bouldering in north central wa represent! (any moment now i will be graced by the sunny skies of another beautiful day in The Canyon....) don't know san diego. both have their place. nah i don't do it for a living. maybe it has sounded that way, but no, it's more like a hobby of sorts. i've got a construction biz, mainly public entity contracts, which is my main source of funds right now. I have no plans for selling this piece. it nets out positive in cash flow, rents are only increasing, and with the current numbers, i see it appreciating further. i like the idea of paying it off for maximum cash flow, maybe investing in others in the near future. with my construction resources, distressed properties appeal to me greatly (the apt was kinda one: 25k in capital improvements brought net cash flow to around 600/mo, and raised value by about 150,000. that's a pretty good deal in my book (although it's peanuts and not even worthy in someone else's). i also think the possibility is there that the current RE environment will scare off many investors (they are no longer in a position to invest, they are bankrupt!, etc) so if one can be patient, little glittery nuggets might reveal themselves. already happening. look at rents nation-wide (NW is no exception). no not really. i think the gap will close with increases in rents and drops in home prices (averages, with much geographic exception).
