Just don't load it until the last minute. Actually my truck gets to stay home this time. It's a gas guzzler. So message to 009 Truck'll be empty. Hands off sukka!

No climbing distractions this weekend. Studying for finals. But then I'm off to the Valley on Tuesday night!

Here's the best site with weather, avy info and live pictures. www.shastaavalanche.org

So we're bombing Baghdad right now. It's all over the tv. Brought to us via mounted cameras on buildings, with sound and commentary. I thought it was kind of strange when I learned in school how people used to picnic and watch battles during the revolutionary war. This is really fucked up "entertainment". Even though it is disturbing it is so seductive. I can't turn it off. Part of me wants to know if/when they actually hit the right target and hoepfully end this whole thing.

Snowboarder rescued unhurt after 20 minute burial?
chelle replied to Norman_Clyde's topic in the *freshiezone*
I thought that woman who was buried in the avalanche at Alpine Meadows in the early 80's was under for days. Although she was in a building and in a little hole created by some toppled lockers, so maybe that's different. -
I imagine that there is a desire to share the experience with him. They both are competent climbers. Would it be different if they were just friends or didn't really know eachother well?

Rockanyone - what do you eat before or during your run? Could be that your legs are running out of fuel.

but people seem not to feel the need to walk around in them with a pair of shorts over top Thank god! Can't believe that people think function over fashion is important.

DejaVu? Last I heard you can't drink booze there. Kinda defeats the purpose.

$11,000 per violation. Sweet a new way to fund the climing lifestyle.

Yeah ChucK we were at the Alehouse in Feb. But we haven't drank in Ballard lately. Maybe we should have it at the Sloop so we don't repeat the same locale too soon. I change my vote to the Sloop Tavern. 34 oz microbrews for $5. Couple of pool tables.

Ballard Alehouse. We haven't been out here in Ballard lately.

NAO is a fun route. Watched the guy I was belaying take some nice whippers under the roof.

Got any friends who kayak? Borrow a drytop with gaskets in the sleeves. It'll keep the rain from going up your arms.

Guye Peak is a good steep dirt climb in the summer. Pine needles and lichen covered rock. Trees make for bomber pro though.

I just finished that book, and I still think organic beef slaughtered by the local butcher is fine. I will certainly never eat fast food again, but your point is a reactionary generalization at best. Besides, the author still likes In 'n Out Burger, or did you miss that at the end ? Just read the book too. I'd like to know where you can find a butcher who uses organic cows and does all the butchering himself. I thought they were extinct. I haven't see one since I was about 9 years old.

Looks like aid climbing is where it's at. I'll be at Index when I'm not in class.

Probably just another case of needing to label something to get attention. Could be the youngest American I guess but who cares it's still a big mountain and people who climb it have acomplished something even if they're not the first, youngest or oldest.

That is great news! I hope that she recovers from whatever has happened to her in the past 8 months.

Muffy - I believe you had a vision. It's very cool you've found something that you want to do for a living. I've spent a lot of time figuring that one out and think I've finally hit upon something that I can stick to for a while. So congrats to you! The WA state liscensing board has good info on the requirements in WA. Not sure what they are in OR, but the WA reqs are way more stringent than in CA. I think it's because LMTs can get reimbursed by insurance companies. Check their site for more info and a list of schools up here that are accredited. I looked into massage therapy as a way to pay for grad school, but decided against it after I realized it would be hard to climb well and also be a good massage therapist (not that this should sway you from your vision though). Good luck with it.

So the makeup counter in the women's restroom lobby didn't clue you in? Maybe they have one of those in the men's room too. Didn't check it out.

I'll be there next time Dwayner. Had class up here and it was too late to drive that far. No night class next semester=Tacoma non-pub club or pub club drinking.
-
If you recently moved up here it sounds like you have a lack of partner issue. Figure out a way to get to a Pub Club and meet some people. That's a good way to hook up and climb stuff. Easier than simply trolling on the site for partners IMO. Do you go to the UW rock? Another place to meet other climbers and it's free.

It is true. I would have gone if I knew the Col. was going to be there. Doubt it! I was disappointed that no one else was out aiding that day. We had the rain and rock all to ourselves. Quiet and peaceful. Forgot the boombox...

I think I saw this guy get beat by a bear on some stupid Fox reality tv show. Pretty disgusting what they asked that bear to do if you ask me. That many hot dogs can't be good for him.
