Yep. All is now good in my world and I'm back to jumping for joy!

Work can suck if you don't like your job. But the paychecks are nice. I miss those things bigtime...

Naw thanks, prefer to "learn" from you at a long distance. Very long distance

Trask you're a tease. I thought you were going to show us some entertaining photo of how to have sex and run at the same time. I was going to be impressed, since I think it'd be hard to do.

No one said anything about the women of cc.com (all 6-10 of us) being oppressed. I merely asked for a little respect and that the c-word not be used. Both the image and the word were offensive. If you don't think so then perhaps you have become too desensitzed. I can't think of anything as offensive that refers to men. If there is one, clue me in because I would hate to offend.

Who's planning on heading up this weekend? Snow levels below 3000' throught thursday and heading up to 4500' on Friday, but dropping again on Sat and Sun. With storms coming through to drop some freshies.

Unfortunate things happen all over the world to people who are in a position to be taken advantage of or overpowered. Most all countries have sketchy places. You just have to travel smart and possibly pay a little more to go guided on a trek or tour off the beaten path. In Railay/Pranang where several women have disappeared (locals and non-locals), people shouldn't go out alone at night in sketchy areas and don't ever get on a longboat taxi at night or near dark if there are no other passengers going where you are headed. Most of the longboat drivers there are drug addicts and there is a lot of shady stuff that goes on in the south of Thailand right underneath the beauty that tourists see. I don't think Dryad is going to be alone per se. It may be more deserted this time of year, but there are other travelers I am sure she can make friends with. I did a solo trip in Nepal in 98 before all the Maoist bs started and travelers weren't being attacked. I made a few friends with other travelers and I had a guide on my trek. I also stayed in tea houses where I could lock my little room when I slept, or I put my sleeping bag near the guys I'd met when we were in bunkhouses. Creepiest person I met on my Nepal trek was a lama who lurked around a tea house in Pangboche. I saw him one night at the top of the stair near the sleeping rooms just sitting there watching people in the dark. Made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

I think that Pinnacles has had closures in certain areas because of nesting birds before, as does Mt. Diablo. Usually it is just during the spring nesting season and the crags are open by July.

Don't let those meanies steal your stoke. Send Fern a list and she'll ban 'em!

Given the time of year you are going both will be an adventure and pretty cold cause it is winter there. Stay in teahouses and you should be fine. If you skip going up the Gokyo valley on the Everest trek you would have enought time to do both E and Annapurna treks. Annapurna does have a hisotry of avalanches in some of the towns, so that is something to consider as well.

Yeah, maybe "play by" was the wrong phrase. They need to at least be able to tollerate the way that many of the guys play on the site, write it off as guys being guys, and be aware that if it is directed at them they can choose to spray back, laugh at it, or ignore it.
-
No but it should be. We went through this discussion about a month ago when we talked about trip reports and dissing other people's stories. Got nowhere catbird. This group is unruly and you gotta have a thick skin and an ability to not take stuff personally most of the time. I assume since you didn't want to give away the person's gender, that it is yet another female who lerks and thinks all you guys are a bunch of little boys who don't want to share their toys in the sandbox. She's gotta start playing by their rules or ignoring the stuff that is bs. We need more women posting on this site.

The Gore floss is the best stuff for quick repairs on outdoor gear too. You can sew backpacks, camp chairs, etc. and the stuff will not break. They have also used Gore-tex and similar fabric as a wrap around large blood vessels that need support so they don't burst.

Scott goes to school in Canada. Their Thanksgiving was back in Oct. May be true that your's are older, but mine aren't that healthy for only being 60. Mom had a stroke a couple of years ago and she now reminds me of my grandmother when she was in her late 70s. Thankfully she hates walmart so I don't have to worry about being dragged in there.

Kinda embarrased to admit it...but I did get up at 5:30 to shop with Mom for a few items on Friday am. What we'll do for our aging parents. She really wanted this particular fake christams tree that already has the lights on it and could save $100 if we got there early. Damn thing was pretty heavy too, so there was no way she could manage getting it on her own. Funny thing was that she read the ad wrong and the store opened at 8am. So we hit a couple other stores and got some good deals. 50% off on a cordless phone/answering machine and 30% off a memory foam pillow. Yep...I shopped for me.

And some of us would prefer you leave.

Looks like you had a great trip Luke. Wish I had more time to trek around the Sierra with you next time, but I have to stay west of the mountains on that trip too. BTW I got clued in to a really cool new (rediscovered and newly cleaned) bouldering area in the merced river canyon just outside the valley. I'll have to let you know how it is after my trip at Xmas.

Hey metalhead. I know its spray, but the caption on your photo is pretty disgusting. That's one of the most offensive words that can be used towards a woman. It's still a mixed crowd around here. Try to show the few of us that still post here a sliver of respect please.

Yeah, but he set up all those nice top ropes for everyone at the Love Fest. We gotta cut him some slack and let him sing.

Just think of it as manna from heaven and enjoy all the new tunes. Now you don't have to shell out cash for them. But then you could probably get some good karma points by returning it to the owner.

Pinnacles is south of SF, north of LA and nearly due east of Monterrey.

I'll probably be able to get away, but I gotta check with the SO.
