  1. Eastern Central Cascades. North Cascades are North of Highway 2 and are the green and red Beckey. This is in the tan (or brown) below Hwy 2. Start at Ingalls. Bivy at Ingalls. Water at Ingalls. Iceaxe/Crampons/Boots. Plenty of snow in the Couloir and approach. Buy Jim Nelson's 'Select Climbs of the Cascades' and photocopy the pages at 50 percent and laminate. Good luck.
  2. You should be able to but you just won't get the return on the two ounces right?
  3. You were on the wrong route for sure. Quit wasting your time.
  4. 'A Swingin Affair' above Careno 5.10c Worthy of a send even if it doesn't make your range of difficulty. About 4 moves inverted. ROTC
  5. There is someone lost up there right now isn't there?

Porter you're an asshole. Now I'm all fucked up about that spider.
  8. I can see some merit of having another bolt for that route. There are plenty of climbs for the masses though. Your call. My 2 cents. On another note, I was up there Sunday and was on a route that had some slings slung around a tree with rap rings. I decided to clip one ring and call off belay and the second was the one bomber ring I was planning on rapping from. I yell off belay and pull rope and thread and toss and begin to unclip the locker from the other ring I'm clipped to and noticed the ring was attached to a sling that was chewed through and just sitting there, not actually tied to anything. In retrospect it got me thingking; how about the top anchors? Maybe instead of adding bolts to a route that may or may not need them, how about using your bolts to replace all of the tat at the top of most routes up there?
  9. If you want the formal poll, I have it on paper. And yes they do care. You can get the meeting minutes from Louise Lindgren if you need to clarify your statement.
  10. I was gonna say the Alaska Range but that snag looks awefully familiar. Hmmm....
  11. The wilderness area in Snohomish County has long been a political football. By Jim Haley, Herald Writer A bill that would create a 106,000-acre wilderness area in eastern Snohomish County is expected to finally come before the U.S. Senate this week, possibly as early as today. Senate passage would create the Wild Sky Wilderness, which has had ups and downs in both houses of Congress since it was introduced in 2002. Three times, the measure passed in the Senate but languished in the House. Led by U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., the Democratic-controlled House approved Wild Sky a year ago, but about 62 federal land-use measures were stymied in a Senate bill in 2008. The House vote is good until the current session of Congress ends late this year. That logjam is about to end, aides to Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., said Wednesday. Murray is the prime Wild Sky sponsor in the Senate. Aides said the public lands bill has been scheduled for a vote, which could come today. This would be the first wilderness created in Washington state in more than two decades. Wild Sky would include both backcountry ridges and peaks as well as low-elevation, old-growth forests surrounding salmon and steelhead spawning grounds. House opposition earlier was fueled by concerns that about 13,000 acres of the site might not meet wilderness standards. The wilderness would be north of U.S. 2 and the towns of Index and Skykomish. The area straddles the Beckler River and the north fork of the Skykomish River within the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Part of the new wilderness would be adjacent to the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness, which was established in 1984 and was named after the late senator from Everett. A wilderness designation gives the land strong federal protection, although some compromises are built into this bill. Those include allowing some areas to be used by large Scout groups, letting float planes continue using a large, high-mountain lake, and creating a paved recreation trail that would accommodate people in wheelchairs. While environmentalists have pushed hard for passage, the Wild Sky creation has run into strong opposition from farmers and ranchers, and from some sport enthusiasts such as snowmobilers, who would be unable to ride within wilderness boundaries. Most recently, a vote on the bill had been held up by U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who was protesting proposed spending in a collection of public lands legislation. The wilderness designation bans use of motorized vehicles, but allows a whole array of outdoor activities, including hiking, hunting, fishing and rafting.
  12. I didn;t see this here yet. Pretty sweet. Now if only Heybrook Ridge could be tacked onto the boundary. It's right there! HERE
  13. Click on the location and it loads total snowfall in the last two days. Click on the link above the graph and it loads readings of wind speed, humidity, temperature, etc. Choose a custom date range if you want say a total of something for the given days. Sorry, I only have from mid March until now.
  14. I built a custom viewer for telemetry readings. Updated hourly and the formatted in graphs with custom date ranges. Let me know if you have any suggestions. LINK IS HERE
  15. I don't have any kids and I like drip thank you very much. Are you stoopid? Anyways, Darin it is more like an hour plus. The rock is fine for cragging. Index and Squamish are a little further but you get the preferred batholith condusive to whiny bitches and their need for clean perfect cracks and one minute approaches. Bolder at Rosario if you're a hard man. It kicks my ass.
  16. Heybrook Ridge myspace Heybrook Ridge dot org Heybrook Ridge is the feaure that divides the North and South forks of the Skykomish River at it's junction. It is also what climbers will look beyond while climbing the upper and lower town walls while viewing Mount Index. This photo is from Lookout Point This is an awareness campaign to help protect Heybrook Ridge from being sold for clear cutting in June of 2008. There is a group of Index residents that have formed a non-profit focused on raising money to buy the land and protect it from logging and development forever. The myspace and the website are to help spread the word so please join the myspace if you are on there. I am also reaching out the core users in the recreational arena for a helping hand. If anyone would like to be a part of this, get in touch with me via myspace or from the main website. We are looking for gear companies, retail stores and any other businesses to donate whatever they can as auction items at the next fundraiser. The last party in Everett was a ton of fun and so there is talk about having one in Seattle pretty soon as well.
  17. Thanks for your hard work! Wayne, skisickness.com
  18. Guys read the thread title. Start another thread.
  19. Hellz yes I will be there. Can't wait to meet the Skagit folks, being new to this county and all. Nice photo.
  20. Looking at Lowell's Chronology, the sickest lines skied in the Cascade Mountains have been in the last five years. Looking at who made the first tracks, there is a pretty even split of Telemark and Randonee skiers on the list. I don't see any snowboarders.
  21. Fuck I have a gig on Saturday. Well, have fun.
