  1. Good to here that LW is getting bolted back together fine. For a bad situation, everything came together all right - Always good to meet the other lurkers, but it could have been better circumstances.
  2. Just picked up an Air Tech racing at 2nd ascet (on sale) - they also have the BD ravens on sale - both seem to be good ltweight general mountain axes - haven't taken mine out in the snow/scree yet, the only concern I have is that the beveled bottom spike is aluminum, vs. steel, so may not wear as well if I'm poking around dirt and talus with it.
  3. Met MisterE in B'ham and hit Squish. Got on routse we hadn't done before, chased shade. Was heading home last night when he called to let me know that he still had my rack, and I had his ropes. Doh!
  4. 3 laps on Snow Creek Wall? Orbit-Outer Space-Hyperspace
  5. I've also had a couple pair of adidas responses - they fit me well, but I have narrow feet. The Montrails tend to be wider, from the ones I've tried on. I've had a couple pair of Technicas, as well - they also fit my narrow feet. Another on the slightly wider side are Lowas, from what I've tried.
  6. Threats of physical violence from partner?
  7. Sweet - Looks like I'd better spring for the 3.5. I assume the rest of your rack was pretty much alpine standard (singles of everything)?
  8. Sweet. 2wd friendly, or will I have to succumb to travelling in an SUV?
  9. Heading up to do N. Ridge this weekend - We are planning on doing the south approach (Longs Pass trail to Ingalls Lake, etc.) Any beta on that approach - e.g. best places to cross the ridge/pocket glacier, etc.? How's the 4th class up to the base of the route? Also, how clear is the decent back to the south site - Cascadian Couloir ('obvious decent gully...") Thanks.
  10. Liberal court(?): Renquist nominated by Reagan Stevens nominated by Ford O'Connor nominated by Reagan Scalia nominated by Reagan Kennedy nominated by Reagan Souter nominated by GHW Bush Thomas nominated by GHW Bush Ginsberg nominated by Clinton Breyer nominated by Clinton the court should be referred to as the Reagan Memorial Supreme Court.
  11. So they could be Chimp and Tin Man? and (e.g. lopsided, creaky, mechanical, needs heart)

"And if I have set up the 9:1 system correctly, Bob here should be able to pull this pickup with his willie."
  13. The large purple metolius (#8) equates to a 2.5 perfectly.
  14. Been up there a couple of times this year - a nice selection of routes through the grades - Anyone else find any poison ivy/oak up there? I got a bad case around Memorial Day, but didn't notice any 'leaves of three' the last ime I was up there.
  15. I'd agree - 20 or so, if its similar to some old noseless Kongs I had.
  16. Looks like my partner for tomorrow had to take care of some business, so I'm outta luck. Anyone available for a day - Index, Si, etc.?
  17. 11/14 on the opening round, but 12/14 on the difficult round. 8/10 on the users round. I guess their dog is relatively safe with me.

That's what band geeks are for.
  23. My coworker is getting her copy signed and was seriously considering wearing a little blue dress.
  24. I compared the Khamsin and Nozone in the shop a few years back and chose the Nozone for the frame reason that Cracked pointed out - good alpine/crag pack and pretty bomber. The Khamsin frame also jabbed me in the back of the head when I did the 'look up' test. As far as Ospreys- I have an older Xenith (friggin huge) that I bought from Swallow's nest. I haven't had reason to carry it for a few years, but the thing is built well, and has a good suspention - especially if one is to fill its 7,000 inch space. One cool thing about Osprey - they don't advertise much, and most of their sales are through shops and word of mouth.

"...after the biggest intelligence failures since some Trojan ignored Cassandra's chatter and said, ''Roll the horse in.'" - that's hilarious - of course, while she is on the subject of Cassandra, Dowd could have also pointed out that Agamemnon ignored Cassandra's warnings against hubris, and was killed by his wife and her lover upon his return home. ...pride before the fall...
