  1. big wet flakes coming down in Everett this morning. Any snow up there Dru?
  2. It seems like I used to find ropes, pro, ice axes and whatnot on e-bay. Now it is mostly CRAP (knives, stickers, posters, books, movies) check it out if you want. ebay rock climbing kinda funny stuff today, check out the "climbing cleats" and the "rock climbing nude" video. So, anybody else notice this decline in actual climbing stuff or am I doing something wrong with my search?
  3. I am kinda curious about that last comment, Erik - Does your boss object to you spending countless hours of company time on the web or something?
  4. There are several cracks at the lower town wall at Index you can walk up to and mess around on. The first pitch of the Great Northern Slab goes at 5.0 with lots of good nut placements and bomber bolts at the top for rapping. Get John Long's Climbing Anchors book.
  5. eastside pubclub here (gapers only)
  6. Since there seems to be some interest, and it is the Eastside's turn, beer guzzleing will be held at the index parking lot next week. If it rains then we can go to the index tavern. I am not too excited about drinking and climbing, but, will readily drink after Libra crack removes the skin from my hands. As Matt suggested earlier, bring your own poison.
  7. quote: Originally posted by Matt: On days like today when the weather is so nice I think we should seriously consider having pub club in the Index parking lot or some other climbing area. BYOB and the first people there get to set up the TRs on all Godzilla and all those LTW classics. Seriously. I LIKE THIS IDEA!!!
  8. quote: Originally posted by Son of Caveman: i'm diggin' that idea. heh, boy george is my 2nd. cousin, can i bring him for some campfire singalong action?? "do you really want to luv me??" no, banjo muzak only.
  9. I am not hacking on anybody in particular, maybe Erik, but, all this philisophical crap makes me want to go commune with nature (not really). I climb 'cause it's fun and it's good for you. And all the KEWL people you meet.

I was dissapointed to see this is still good advice as of yesterday afternoon as I sat attop the first pitch in my rock shoes trying to figure out how to use a big hex to chop steps. If you are planning on going anywhere around here, bring some type of floatation devices for the approach. Also surprised that we saw nobody above Source Lake on a sunny spring day
  11. The Tooth!!
  12. DONT YOU HAVE SOME LARGER PICTURES????
  13. Sorry dru, I should have clarified, I was wearing a pink tu tu and Canucks jersy, they go well together. Not a literal spanking, but, a figurative one, get your mind outa da gutter holmes. I think that Larry the Ranger should be forced to wear one of those leather masks.
  14. I kid you not, I got spanked at Index by a guy in January wearing levi 501's and a black leather jacket. Not that out climbing me is anything to write home about, but, still funny.
  15. It's a nice little 3rd tool, I can email you a picture if you are interested.
  16. Maybe it was BIG LOU!!

  18. I got a standing ovation about a year ago on Panorama Point for going way to fast (trying to build speed for the flat area below) and hitting a bump, flying in the air and cartwheeling the rest of the way down. Must of been 50 people clapping and laughing. DOH! Last weekend I cleared 2 creek moats glissading an avalanche chute on Mt. Baring. Probably not too smart (never been accused of it anyway ) considering I was alone but, dang that was fun!
  19. I meant to post this earlier this week but, better late than never, right: "8 AM PDT Monday, April 22, 2002 ********************************************************** SPRING AVALANCHE STATEMENT Please note that regularly scheduled avalanche forecasts for the past winter season have ended. However weather and snow conditions will continue to be monitored at the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center with the information that remains available. Additional forecasts will be issued when unusually severe avalanche conditions develop. When issued such forecasts will be available on the usual phone recordings and on the NWAC Web site." Thanks for all your hard work this season guys!!

  21. you might want to consider these: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/product.asp?base%5Fno=46299&str%5Fbase%5Fno=21139%2C22030%2C22091%2C22102%2C22120%2C22171%2C22172%2C22176%2C22239%2C22289%2C22491%2C22514%2C22590%2 C22634%2C22722%2C22725%2C22727%2C22750%2C26378%2C46299%2C&header%5Ftitle=Men%27s+Clothing%2DHiking+%2F+Performance+%2F+Travel+Pants&page%5Fname=prod%5Flist%5Fdisplay%2Easp&search%5 Ftype=L2%7E179&size1=&size2=&gender=0&ShowImages=yes&sq=0&cont=1&intPgNo=1&special%5Ftype=&mscssid=9WQVJ3V9BFSR2GQA0G0KN0SFN1E7E4C2
  22. the downside of carharts is the hammer loop snags on stuff, they hinder movement unless you buy them extra baggy, you really have to shop to get them for less than $30, they are heavy, and if they get wet on a cool windy day, you are probably done cause they will suck the heat right out of you. I sweat alot and usually suffer from "swamp ass" syndrome if it is warm and I wear carharts. Having said all of that, you need a job if you can wear them out in less than 1 season. I prefer cheap fleece sweats when it's cool, or the nylon with the zip off legs for warmer weather. that's my $.02
  23. You can use a running belay in this scenario, but, typically on that kind of terrain, it is just a mental reinforcement that if there was an earthquake you wouldn't fall to your death. Exposure is a funny thing, never has bothered some people, really bothers others.
  24. nice tr Juan.
  25. Who woulda thought None was so prophetical?? Can they repeat last seasons record? You must admit, it is nice to have a local team of this caliber to watch and cheer for
