MtnGoat Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 "For what ever reason (!), capitalism just isn't such a great word in many parts of the world." Â That's because they often do not have the required legal structures in place for capitalism to function, nor understand it's foundations. When titles to land are hard to get or unreliable, contract law unenforcable or unreliable, private property rights non existent, and widespread corruption in the legal system, capitalism won't work. Â "Might they be seeing the light?!?!?" Â OF the train heading right at them, they certainly are. The numerous proven flaws in collectivist economies are ignored in the hopes that if it's only done "right", by people who really really believe it will work, their economy will function... and they auger right in again and blame the nasty capitalists. Â "What many fail to understand about capital management and subsequent harvest is that without limiting the amount of the medium of exchange, capitalism fails." Â Of course it does. Without money having value because it's value is limited with respect to how much currency there is, the value of trading it is nil. Â Why would anyone trade their labor for a medium that has no value? This is part of what is happening in down south. Â "This limitation will always lead to the inequities we see globally" Â Limiting the value of currencies has nothing to do with limiting the number of people who use it, nor their personal value. Â "Capitalism will never lead to equitable cohabitation; why are so many so brainwashed?" Â Of course it won't. Who has ever claimed it will? All it means is you have the power to choose what to value, what to sell, what to buy, and what to try and do with your labor. Â Â Why in the world would anybody expect people to wind up equal, when people are not the same to begin with? Some work harder, some don't work at all, some are smarter, some are dumber, some value money, some don't, some value one type of labor, some another. This gurantees people will never wind up "equal", differing people with differing values, goals, and abilities will not have the same outcomes. Â "It's funny how people were trumpeting the fall of communism, exclaiming victory for capitalism. Hah!" Â Capitalism has won, even China is becoming more capitalist, and Castro is allowing markets to operate in Cuba. Quote
MtnGoat Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 "If you don't climb then post something about hiking, or else just go away." Â Had a great time in the 'chants in August. How's that? Â Â Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 MG, way to run with what I wrote! You get an A in assumptions, but a D at most in reading comprehension. Try again! Â Nice trip report, by the way. Had me laughing! Your TR's are inversely proportional in length to your political posts; keep 'em coming! Quote
allthumbs Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Heard Bush's new tax plan on the radio today. He's a fuckin genious. I think Bush is the best president we've had since Roosevelt. Go America!!!! Quote
mattp Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 You mean that economic stimulation measure that just about ever economist there is says will have little postive effect on the economy but will increase the federal deficit plenty? Quote
fleblebleb Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 I will share in the effort to make one and two-liner posts to make up for mtngoatfuck's fabulous stamina. Quote
allthumbs Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 That's the one Obi Wan. Watch Hannidy and Coombs on Fox and get the real story. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 "Fabulous stamina?" Suppose he's good in the sack, too? Or, perhaps, as a Libertarian, he's not concerned about whether he gets his mate off or not, so long as he enjoys himself, and if she was really concerned about his performance, she'd seek another mate, as is her right as a free human person in a free market. Â Hmm ... Quote
allthumbs Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Jeez Flash, lighten up on the nasty stuff already...kids might be lurking. Try to be civil, okay? Quote
fleblebleb Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Fabulous bullshitting stamina? Coupled with fabulous typing stamina? Â Exactly which part of my post made you start thinking about sex anyway? Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 It is incumbent upon the *parents* in this situation to either limit or not limit their children's exposure to websites with potentially objectionable material. If parents discover their children learning about some of life's realities such as the sexual act and they find that unacceptable, *they* should not let their children view the site. But DFA will not compromise his freedom to accommodate someone *else's* moral standards. The choice is theirs to make, and the Doctor cannot censor himself simply on the off chance that a child may view what he writes. Suppose the child's parents *want* the child to view material of a sexual nature on the internet? Then the Doctor would be depriving the child of *precisely* what the parents wanted the child to find in the first place. Â Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 "Stamina" is what they call it when you can do it for a long time. You know, like, in the sack? The old in-out, in-out? Â *nudge nudge, wink wink* Quote
fleblebleb Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 I'm kind of wishing my parents would chime in and limit my access to various parts of the bulletin board, to tell you the truth... Quote
fleblebleb Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 HAHAHAHAHA stamina only means one thing to the sport climber doesn't it? Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 What, you alpinists never score any coochie? Quote
allthumbs Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Now Flash, don't force me to do a search from yesterday, but you accused me of the very same behavior. Isn't this a double standard? Align your party, son. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Bwa ha ha ha haaa! Dr. Flash Amazing trounces the terrible trask with a bit of the ol' double standard! Take that, suckaaa! Â But really, it was all just a bullshit ploy to ape the MtnGoat's *singular* style of posting and Libertarianizing. *Stunning,* no? Quote
fleblebleb Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Well, I remember some Barry Blanchard comment to a Nepal liaison officer or some such, about the Rupal Face of Nanga Parbat being something like having sex with death. So there, that's as good as I can get you when it comes to a real alpinist. I'm just a weekend dabbler myself, try to mix it up when I can... Â (Dammit, must get rid of flu and stop read stupid Twight book) Quote
Winter Posted January 7, 2003 Author Posted January 7, 2003 As a good libertarian, DFA feels *free* to be as hypocrytical as he likes. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Who are you to say what the Doctor feels free doing or not doing, or how he chooses to do or not do that which he does, as determined by his free will in a free market. Let the market straighten things out, DFA says. And no more dumb taxes! The schooling of the public's children is limiting DFA's freedom to do stuff with his money, as is his right! Quote
