Steph_Abegg Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) Trip: Bugaboos in a Day - winter aerial photography adventure w/ John Scurlock Date: 3/9/2013 Trip Report: John and I had talked about doing a single day flight to the Bugaboos and back. I didn't think we would pull it off until we actually did it.... Words don't really describe it, so I'll let the photos (and video!) speak for themselves. genepires Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 was just talking about bugaboos and gimli with a fellow who is doing a long road trip this summer. damn I miss the bugs. thanks! was real cool to see the "other sides" of those mountains. Quote
dougd Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Enjoyed the pics and video very much. If you two ever get a road show together, I hope Spokane could be one of the stops. d Quote
matt_warfield Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 The images are great. We must treasure aircraft, video, and advanced photography (meaning beyond Ansel Adams) for increasing our inspiration of the mountains. Quote
Steph_Abegg Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 planes = aid In that case I suppose tripods = aid too. Quote
ryanl Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Any one these could be a best in a lifetime shot. Thanks for the post! Quote
ivan Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 planes = aid In that case I suppose tripods = aid too. anything more fancy than a pad n' pencil i can't even imagine the shake-down me n' my buddies would get trying to fly into canuckistan and back! Quote
John_Scurlock Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 planes = aid yes aid.. and a gift... It's allowed me, and us, to see & photograph things hardly imaginable.. & I should add, it's a pleasure to work with such a talented friend and collaborator as Steph.. in every respect I consider myself fortunate like you cannot believe.. John_Scurlock Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 i can't even imagine the shake-down me n' my buddies would get trying to fly into canuckistan and back! They know the plane well over in Oroville... one time, the main part of the process was the agent questioning me about the social life in Bellingham, since he was young, single, and had just transferred to Oroville from some large city in the south. Being double his age, I was not really in a position to be very helpful... though I'm guessing the night life in Oroville is fairly limited after about 5 pm, and he said as much.... yesterday there was a slight kerfuffle when they realized "Miss Abegg" was half Canadian. Her Canadian passport fixed things however. Quote

mccallboater Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Just yesterday I was twisting the arm of a friend for a Valhalla trip. Fantastic that the weather was so perfect for both the Valhallas and the Selkirks. I've never seen such detailed pics. Thank you so much! Quote

Well this should finalize the arm-twisting. =) I highly recommend the Valhallas, I've climbed there 2x and there's some great alpine rock fun to be had. Quote

Steph_Abegg Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 Steph--what body/lens are yuo using? Canon 7D with a 24-105 lens. John uses the 5D and 24-105 lens. Both great setups. Quote
steelfrog Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Awesome. And are you bracketing your shots? Using an auto function or manual? RAW? Quote
