Dave_Schuldt Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 FUCKING AWSOME!!!!! THOSE WHO VOTED NO Quote
Son_of_Caveman Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 I have no problem with it. Seattle needs some help. Quote
JoshK Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 we need mass transit badly in this city. I fear the monorail plan, however, isn't going to do shit to help traffic. Quote
North_by_Northwest Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Traffic? I thought the new monorail was to help avoid DUIs. Quote
Fairweather Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Monorail Yes! (Since I don't live there) ...But you don't think Seattlites will actually vote to pay for something themselves do you? Out of their own pockets? Surely, there must be a way to get the good people of Washington State to foot the bill for Seattle's monorail! ...I know! Let's set up a tri-county taxing district! Quote
North_by_Northwest Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Sell the SeaHawks, wait no, they're not worth anything. Quote
allison Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Seattle residents aren't really that taxaphobic, FW. That latest Eyman initiative didn't pass here, for example. Quote
mtnnut Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 It would probably be more effective for reducing traffic if downtown commuters were just paid to stay home one day a year. Quote
Fairweather Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Actually, a monorail extension would be cool. And a good tourism draw too. Good for business. Â I hope Seattle can muster up the same courage to pay for a new AK Way viaduct without calling on state taxpayers as well. Especially since the people who will drive the new Tacoma Narrows are "on their own", financially speaking. Â Peace, Allison. Quote
allison Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 It's not a monorail extension. It's a whole new system. My understanding is the old Alweg 'rail won't be part of it. Â I wouldn't put money on the city rebuilding the Viaduct without outside help. Anyway you all need that to get to the ballparks that happen to be here that we didn't want or vote for. Â So when my Mom is in town, we'll ride the Momorail, but what about Dad? Quote
offwidthclimber Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 yeah, what's a 'MOMORAIL'? Â now, what about I-5, 99, 420, 520...? Quote
