Fairweather Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 j_b, Since you never, ever deviate from your template, I finally decided to put you on ignore a couple days ago. To clarify, I needn't actually see your above post to know what you're saying--because you've never expressed an original thought or reflected upon the tiniest fragment of your worldview. Not even once. Since exchanges with you fail to meet even the lowly Kevbone standard, I've decided to spare myself the frustration of knowing there are people as dumb as you in the world. Please do me the favor of placing me on ignore as well. Better yet, go climb something and tell us about it in one of the regional mountain forums. Adios! Quote

j_b Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 "The primary message that the "Great Communicator" spread in soothing tones and often high-minded words borrowed from the Puritans, was that the enemy of the middle class was not the wealthy, but the poor. She has eighty names, thirty addresses, twelve Social Security cards and is collecting veteran's benefits on four non-existing deceased husbands. And she is collecting Social Security on her cards. She's got Medicaid, getting food stamps, and she is collecting welfare under each of her names. Her tax-free cash income is over $150,000. Reagan's welfare queen also featured one more important number: she was 99.9% imaginary. However, Reagan managed to sell this ugly fantasy not as a description of an individual criminal, but as a condemnation of a class of people. The conservative class warfare that Bill Buckley and the boys had nodded about in the steam rooms of exclusive clubs, became the accepted wisdom in the taprooms of Peoria. What was holding back the middle class was not executives and speculators pocketing millions, it was poor mothers getting a few hundred a year in food assistance. Americans became convinced – and still are convinced – that some vast pool of "urban poor" was draining the wealth of the nation." http://www.dailykosbeta.com/story/2011/02/07/893574/-Remembering-the-Real-Reagan Quote

Crux Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 The Green Bay Packers are a victim of big-government socialist interference. Oh, wait... never mind. They're on the NFL's version of welfare: it's called revenue sharing. Actually, I was thinking about the community ownership of the Packers, in contrast to the other NFL teams, which are privately owned. Just the same, your point about the entire NFL being socialist does underscore the efficiency with which that system does empower the individual teams. Quote

tvashtarkatena Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) This constitutes early notification that I shall soon provide a detailed account of whom I shall heretofor ignore and why. As an addendum to that missive, I shall also compare and contrast my prodigious and oft cited history, no better word for it, of first ascents with the paltry analog of my detractors. When I compare my Everestesque accomplishments, which come so naturally to those of us gifted with a proper diet of moral fibre and Right mindedness, with that of those who must meekly depend on their more industrious brethren for they're daily bread, well...it is to laugh!
