It just goes to show to the true elitist book reading intellectuals are: Glenn Beck listeners.

Indeed, the sale spike is linked to Beck's pushing it on his propaganda show. It must make JayB all warm inside to know that Beck's viewers, people with the average acumen of a tea pot, will read that book.

...a book you are too stupid and brain-damaged to comprehend

Among better news for the human race, FOX News channel audience ratings are in free fall, -20-35% since the beginning of the year: "on the decline was FNC’s Glenn Beck, which as lost -26% of its total viewer audience and -23% in the demo. Other double-digit demo losses included the 9a hour (down -22%), 10a (-21%), 11a (-27%), Noon (-28%), Studio B/Smith at 3p (-28%), Cavuto at 4p, (-29%), Bret Baier at 6p (-24%), Fox Report/Smith at 7p (-29%), O’Reilly at 8p (-30%), Hannity at 9p (-35%) and Greta at 10p (-29%)."

What's the saying? Never judge a book by its coverage.

Probably also tempered by someone's admonition about getting too optimistic about the effects that a book can have on its readers:

"If an ass peers into it you can't expect an apostle to stare out"

Ha! That reminds me...my first introduction to Keynesian Econ (though not Hayek's writings) was via an Econ 101 Course at a community college. I heard the professor who taught the class went on to bigger things, and it turns out he did! He was a pioneer in the world of TV Infomercials, and it looks like he did ok (his name is Barry Chappell):

He beat Keynes into the class relentlessly. You would have been proud of him Jay.

LOL! It's interesting that lacking anything smart or witty to say: people who don't like the ideas presented will attack you.

Thanks Jayb but I'll pass as it looks like the kind of book one reads to get put to sleep.

Little known fact: Marx spelled it "kapital" for exactly the same reason that modern hippies spell it "magik" and "AmeriKKa". The c key on their computers is broken. Beard hairs will do that.

Keynes yes - Hayek no.

If you read "The Road to Serfdom" cover to cover and regret having done so I'll buy the book off of you for what you paid.

now back to the twilight mormon nutjobbery

Yes - if it weren't for all of the bad press coverage and endorsement by unfashionable pundits the contents of that book would be held in much higher esteem these days.
