Just wondering if anyone knows what the latest conditions are at the domes. I am hoping to climb exfoliation dome wed. next week. Have no idea if there is snow and seeping water on the climbs..... and hows the road? - Thanks

I just talked to my buddy.

He was out at the Comb yesterday and was stormed off.

They then took a trip over by the Dome to check things out.

He said there was snow on the summit as well as at the forest/Blueberry Ledge, but nothing that he felt looked too threatening.

He did not mention any seepage on route nor did I ask.

If it were me I would just take my chances and if it did not pan out climb one of the other outstanding crags/routes in the area.

Enjoy and good luck!

Roads clear of snow?

He did not mention snow on the roads.

If there is it is probably not too much as they were in either o ford van or an old subaru wagon with a very conservative driver.

Also, what area (in Darrington) would feature more vertical climbing? rather than multiple pitches of slab...

What beach can you go to that doesn't have any water?

Walked in with a couple buddies with hopes of Slab Daddy- a couple large ledges had considerable snow and accompanying drool- no go without a fight.

We decided to go to Spring Mtn instead, which was dry, warm, and non drooly. Steeper face climbs on excellent gneiss up to 6 pitches there for Frankazoid :)

Turned out to be a great day!

As far as steep DTown proper, Solar Wall on the east face needs a FFA, it's real steep on pitches 3, 4, 5.

From this phrase I surmise there is a Spring Mountain near Darrington, and you are not referring to the Spring Mountain in eastern Oregon?

Witch Doctor Wall side has loads of steep climbing. Cracks are filled with dirt so a little cleaning is necessary.

The Comb (can't remember which #) is much steeper than most of D-town. Excellent routes there as well that consist of off-vertical face climbing on knobs. Amazing 2 pitch bolted arete there as well that goes at what? 11+.

Exfoliation dome.

Climbed half of Revolver before getting pummeled with sleet and had to retreat.

Spent the rest of the day checking out the comb area. Super cool stuff!

I think this is the beginning of a 4 pitch 11+. Look closely, that is a wave of overhanging granite with knobs!

Sunday was a stroll up Silent Running
