MarkMcJizzy Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 There's a lot of other 48 y.o's out there Quote
mattp Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Thanks for the link, Mark. Lets hope it isn't our friend Catbird. He's had some tough luck lately and probably doesn't need something like this. Quote
builder206 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 It is incredible that he would put himself in a position to fall 40', or let conditions decay to the point that he was facing that kind of exposure. He is too smart and too careful. It has to be someone else. Quote
Off_White Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Someone who knows Brian's last name could check with the hospital in Loma Linda. I dropped Randy Vogel a line to see if he knew the injured climber's name. Quote
mattp Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Catbird is a generally safe climber but it is not out of the question, Builder. I've seen him in positions where such a fall might be possible. On trad climbs it is not entirely rare to have to go 15 or more feet past pro with some slack in the system. Quote
builder206 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) No one with his name has been registered there. However, that may not be conclusive. The fall was yesterday. If he was stabilized at Loma Linda then transported elsewhere he would not have been "registered" at Loma Linda. Edited June 16, 2008 by builder206 Quote
mkporwit Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I got email from Brian this morning at 8:09 am which made no indication of him being in any sort of accident... so it most likely isn't him. Though I'm sure he'll be touched by everyone here worrying about him Quote
builder206 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 That sonofabitch owes me 75 cents for the call to Loma Linda Hospital! Quote

builder206 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 This is one thread I am happy to see drift from its starting point. CBS is a stand-up guy. Quote
mattp Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Yup, and he hasn't really been adverse to thread drift either. At least we're not calling each other names and posting soft porn. If anybody has more information pertinent to this incident I'd be glad to see it, though. Quote
Hugh Conway Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 and posting soft porn  that's a bad thing? Quote
G-spotter Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 If she didn't want it to be on the web, why'd she upload it to YouTube? Quote

You put yourself in that position often? I've seen videos of 60' falls...onto the rope. No one I know puts themselves in a position to fall 40' onto the ground, risking mortal injury. Are you really that obtuse? Quote
RuMR Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 better not head to tuolome or some other places, junior... Â or....say, you get a piece in at 10 15 and your next is at 30-ish or so... Quote
